Of course. But most of the goals weren't his fault. And in the end he saved all the shootout attempts. Can't stand on his head every game. Barely got us the 2 points. I'll take it.

Fair enough. He was great in the shutout.

My synopsis is more like: Wings had a good game, had a ton of shots and got some offence, refs blew, Buffalo got two very lucky goals, and Mrazek should have had the first goal by Kane. If anything, Buffalo were lucky to get a point.

I guess I just don't see how the game could leave a "sour impression".

I also thought the game was more lopsided than the score indicated. The only thing that really annoyed me was Blashill changing the lines after we dominated them for two periods.

Hank had a dumb giveaway on the first goal, 99 times out of 100 he doesn't do that. We gave up 2 power play goals, which we almost never do, on a series of dumb penalties. The only goal I didn't like was the fourth, which involved our 4th line getting hemmed into the d-zone.

I'll consider any game in which we get 4 goals, 40+ shots, and 2 points a success.

It would be better for my nerves, of course, to have the offence, PK, and goalie play a full 60 minutes some day. I forget what 4-1 or 5-2 feels like. The good thing, I guess, is I also sort of forget what it's like to lose in that fashion too.

One thing anout this team is that they pretty much have a chance in every game somehow. Maybe you can say that about the entire league? I dunno.

We are not a perfect team, but we are a better team than people give us credit for and we are trending in the right direction. We are getting more goals, shots, greater possession, etc. Our power play seems unsustainably bad and should contribute regularly before long. We need more offense from Datsuks line, and more scoring from the defense. We also need to figure out player usage because it seems that part of our difficulty holding leads stems from over reliance on shutdown guys who aren't cutting it. If I were blash I might go to our better possession lines late in games rather than the fourth line. Maybe use the current lines for two periods and then go to some new, possession oriented lines later in the game if we have a lead. Maybe Pav, helm Tatar, and zetterberg , Larkin, Abby.

Wings played great early on. This game should have been a clear regulation win. Sure, some luck involved with Buffalo's comeback, but not all of it is. They can't blow a 3-1 lead to 3-4. Simply can't. It's banana republic hockey.

The problem I had with the game was letting a team like Buffalo, who we were handling, to get back into the game.

Sure, some of it was bad officiating and there's puck luck and whatnot, but the fact that our PK and goaltending were a bit off during regulation last night made it tough to see the bright spots.

Thankfully, some tenacity on the PK in OT and a shootout win really clears things up. Good to see them fight through some adversity and get that win.

There would be a completely different tone here if we hadn't found a way to get points against Buffalo. We look bad when teams get rough against us, we kind of haven't had an answer for it since we lost in the finals. Buffalo has a pretty mean blueline and the refs weren't there to protect us. That extra minor on Smith where Buffalo scored was a joke and not giving Georges the instigator on the Abby fight made no sense. Buffalo's gameplan was to rough us up and it almost worked

The solution cleary involves punching Bylsma in his stupid goon-coaching bird face.

OR get the PP going. Teams haven't been scared (physically) of the Wings since 1997, but they're usually scared of the PP. Now the PP's a bust. They need to fix it, or is Jim friggin' Hiller some kind of irreplaceable genius?

Yeah, I don't see the wings being able to outgoon anybody anytime soon. It's an effective gameplan against us when the refs don't call any penalties. Feels like our Penalties Called Per Game is way down from last year

Zetterberg and Datsyuk on one power play unit = Bearded Magic.

Seriously I'd rather have one ultra good unit and one crappy one than have two crappy ones. They split the two last year and it worked, but this year it hasn't worked out.

OR bring Big Buff in and solve the whole "Red Wings are getting bullied" issue as well.

Big Buff would help the PP and help keep the flies off. I guarantee Kane doesn't even look sideways at Zetterberg if Byfuglien's out there too.

Imagine your response if you were being kind of a prick at work and instead of reporting you to human resourses one of your coworkers just threw some of your personal effects into the toilet or something.

Now imagine that same scenario if your coworker looked like Dustin Byfuglien.

How do your reactions differ?

Dude is such a boss.

Yeah but they didn't get into the goonery luckily. We can play a fast, physical game but when it gets ugly we usually cower. Not a terrible thing, just hopefully the refs are making calls and that our powerplay is competent, like it was last night. Kind of been our undoing against Boston... among other things

We lost a stinker to Boston early and then blew a third period lead the other night. They hardly outplayed us in the most recent game.

I'm not worried about the tough teams, especially if our offense keeps improving.

I was thinking more about our embarrassing series against them
