When we're playing well the wings can play with any team in the league (like most teams nowadays) but we just don't have the firepower to be a serious contender. Dats and Z look like 40 pint guys at this point of their careers... Ah well. Thought this would be the year we made big strides but the talent just isn't there

When a teams game plan is to not let us fly through the neutral zone we can't play with any speed. We can't dictate play. We take what they allow us. Could have lost the last 4 in regulation I consider ourselves very lucky to be where we're at

Z's leading the team with 24 points in 31 games. That's on pace for 63 points.

Pav is struggling. his 8 points in 16 games would make him a 41 point guy for a whole season. I find it hard to believe he won't find his groove.

I do think we need switch up that 2nd line. Maybe insert Pulkkinen on the 3rd line to get our shot count up:

Tat-Dat-Helm

Ny-Shea-Pulk

That creates the problem of where to play Richards, but (despite tonights goal) I think he doesn't have a good spot since Datsyuk is back.

He's quoted as saying he thinks he's missing something.

yeah, but you don't have Pulk for about 6 more weeks, and that's well into february. I'd like to see more from Pulk but he kinda feels like a one-trick pony that doesn't get much aside from that powerful slapshot that breaks more sticks than it banks goals.

I'd like to see some good old Z-Dats-Abby and I really like how that Tat-Shea-Ny line's been playing. So with the roster as is, I don't know how Dylark-Richards-Helm could work, with both their speed and RIchards experience maybe they could produce more. Larkin works wherever you play him.

I had a momentary brain lapse there and forgot Pulkkinen was injured. I don't think we'd scratch him if he was healthy so I don't know what I was thinking.

I agree about the TSN line and I like you're lines. The only reason split them up was cause I didn't fully like Pulkkinen on Datsyuk's wing and was trying to find an alternative. I like yours and I think Richards would work better at Center.

A sniper on his wing? just messing...

Yeah, I heard that comment too. He looks like he has his hands, but something with his skating is off. Maybe it's just building back his conditioning. It makes sense since ankle surgery would make you pretty dormant for a while on top of missing training camp.

Here are some suggestions:

1) We need more goals. Shoot the puck at the net more. And don't miss the net. We get power plays and put on a "pass around the perimeter" exhibition. Get the puck towards the net, collapse towards the net, wait for the puck to squirt out somewhere and get some dirty (not pretty) goals.

2) Petr is very good and at times outstanding...but sometimes he is not positionally sound. Watch video of Lundquist and Price and be a bit more compact, positionally sound, and conserve movement. On Buffalo's first goal, Petr's stick has wandered off the ice and the puck squirts thru the five hole. Stick down and blocking the five hole and the puck is stopped. When you wander out of the crease too far, you have less time to react to tips and redirections. Cutting down the angle by coming out of the net too far is a bit overrated. Just my observation.

3) Blash whatever you are telling our guys to do in the 3rd is not working. We are playing afraid when we have a one goal lead. Instill an attitude that up by a goal is really down by a goal. And play a bit desperate.

4) Jurco watch some youtube highlights of yourself...and do some of that.

We are ok...we are a work in progress...but so are virtually all the other teams. Disappointing loss though. Standings say we are ok...

I agree with 1,3, and 4. 2 I am undecided. The only part I think you are wrong with is the assertion that we are "ok". We are the 7th best team in the NHL, I think it is fair to say we are good.

What if Holland shocked the world and signed Stamkos in July? Would that help our offense? Could happen....

http://www.todaysslapshot.com/from-the-ice/lebrun-what-if-red-wings-made-stamkos-an-offer/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Why even ask that question.. The guy is the purest goal scorer next to Ovechkin.

I doubt it would happen. Do we even have the cap space? Richards will be gone and if Franzen is LTIR - we still have to resign a few guys next year including Mrazek.

We'd have to part ways with a bunch of people. I guess I'd be willing to do that for Stamkos but I'm not sure of our salary cap - someone would have to do that math.

This will easily be a 12 mill + deal to make...
