Richdg 267 Report post Posted December 21, 2015 He was indeed a healthy scratch for a game after he had been cleared to return. http://www.mlive.com/griffins/index.ssf/2015/12/anthony_mantha_sits_martin_frk.html "GRAND RAPIDS Anthony Mantha's absence from the Grand Rapids Griffins' lineup Wednesday turned into a golden opportunity for Martin Frk. Mantha was a healthy scratch for the first time this season, opening the door for Frk who provided the go-ahead goal in a 4-1 win against Milwaukee the team's ninth win in a row." Also, the lazy comments have been discussed ad nauseum on here, I can't recall if it was you or someone else who was saying that no one had called him lazy which was responded to with multiple links to quotes from scouts or front office types questioning his work ethics. What followed was anot inane discussion about the semantics of the similarities between the word lazy and the phrase "questionable work ethic/drive." To which the response was The word "lazy" was never used, and then a handfuk of links using the word lazy were then posted. People were questioning his work ethic, whether or not he was going to bust, and people doubting him and all that, which people have every right to question. Just because he's finding his stride in the ahl doesn't mean that he's guaranteed to be the player we hoped he'd become when we drafted him. Nothing is etched in stone, his progress can still stall and he could still bust, or he could hit his ceiling, or much more likely he'll fall somewhere in between. A differing opinion, or people expressing concerns about him aren't a reason to be condescending to someone still hoping he becomes the player you think/want him to be. And saying "I told you so" before it becomes so is pretty silly. Missed one. But this is a classic example of what I am talking about. he gets hurt, misses 4 games. Comes back and plays 2 games, is a positive +/- player and has 2 points. Sits out a game for whatever reason. In your mind you have turned into something that there is no evidence for. "He was benched for a game". Who knows why? I don't. Could have been he was feeling tired after no hockey activites for 10 days during the concussion protocals. maybe a cold or hangover. maybe he was benched. But you are proving my point about ragging on one of our prospects. He was out of the lineup for a game and you see it as some type of negative. Awww, I liked your first edit! He difinitely makes out PK better. I'd like to amend my trade with Nashville. IF they were offering Weber and Mantha was on their want list, I'd do it. No cap room for Weber. Bill Berzeench 310 Report post Posted December 21, 2015 He's been out 7 games and we're 3-1-3 without him. Anyway, this is a Mantha thread and I'm really tired of you turning every discussion into 7 degrees of Drew Miller. I apologize to everyone else for taking the bait and taking up space with more of this. Mods, can you please wipe this post and my previous one. It's circular, dude. I want Mantha in instead of Miller. Looks like Andersson, Athanasiou, and Nosel are ahead of Mantha, tho.

Do you want mantha on the 4th line? Cause that's what would happen if he was "ahead of" Anderson or nosek 1 PavelValerievichDatsyuk reacted to this
LeftWinger 4,959 Report post Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) No cap room for Weber. Weber's cap hit is $7.8M. If you're dumping E and Nyquist along with Mantha, there is plenty of cap room for Weber. Plus he's signed for the next 100 years, so you wouldn't have to worry about him walk UFA come July. But the fact that I've never heard Weber's name mentioned in trade rumors makes it a moot point anyhow. Edited December 21, 2015 by LeftWinger

LeftWinger 4,959 Report post Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) Nobody....you keep in GR to get top line minutes unless you can plug him in the top 6 here as an injury call up. Again, if he were here now, I'd put him next to Pav and drop Helm into Miller's spot, until Miller comes back. Which is where I have Nosek. The Kid - Z - Abby Nosek (or Mantha) - Pav - Richards Nyquist - Sheahan - Tatar Helm - Glen - Jurco (or Andersson) Edited December 22, 2015 by LeftWinger 1 PavelValerievichDatsyuk reacted to this

Besides Weber alone isn't enough. Moving those 2 F would create a major hole in our O which we already have problems with.
LeftWinger 4,959 Report post Posted December 22, 2015 So, like, nobdy with a NMC ever got traded then. Ok, I see..... Besides, its a NTC not a NMC and it's a modified NTC to boot. But ok, we'll go with nobody with a Modified NTC gets moved either, ever, my bad. Acquiring Weber and really only losing Nyquist and the potential of Mantha is a trade that has to be made. We have players that can make up for a good amount of the loss of Nyquist, but the addition Weber makes is game changing, Cup contending.

LeftWinger 4,959 Report post Posted December 22, 2015 I understand, but for just $3.6M more than Ericcson, he is worlds better. Plus E is 31 and still has 5 more years. (including this year) If that were a trade that could happen (which of course it wouldn't) its really a no brainer. But odds are we are keeping all of E, Nyquist and Mantha.... I just hope Mantha isn't a bust, all the hype and hooplah. We need to get him up here for a few games to see how he handles it. 1 sjr2012 reacted to this

nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) Holland will most likely be a buyer at the deadline. Or else we might seriously see a highly thought of prospect be lost on waivers. We have the peices to go huge at the deadlineI'd be scared of holland throwing in someone I'm personally high on for a rental Mantha athanasiou bertuzzi holmstrom svechnikov up front for me I'd really wanna keep unless your telling me were getting a Seth Jones/Roman josi type in return (rather give a nyquist in a package deal, which is ironic considering my username) Doubt were gonna lose a highly thought of prospect on waivers .... Only one I can think of is jurco, which I can't see with Blashill being high on , think we'd get rid of Miller before jurco with him being only 23 Edited December 22, 2015 by nyqvististhefuture 1 jimmyemeryhunter reacted to this
krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted December 22, 2015 I don't want any trades for any more rentals either, unless it's literally for scraps, which won't happen. No more Legwand / Cole / Zidlicky deals please. I'd rather stand pat at the deadline than make any more of those type trades. If we're looking to upgrade our team, it better be for a player in his prime with years remaining on his contract. That one average player is not going to make or break this current team, keep the assets and keep building for the future. Zero chance Jurco gets waived. 1 nyqvististhefuture reacted to this

LeftWinger 4,959 Report post Posted December 22, 2015 Sorry Vladdy, the convo apparently turned from Mantha's laziness to his progress to trading him and for who...that is why all these trade sceanrios popped up involving packages of other players as well as Mantha. Richdg 267 Report post Posted December 24, 2015 Not yet but starting to. The whole Griffins team sucked the first 10 games are so-just like the RW's did. Coaching changes had much to do with that. The Griffins were however outshooting the other team most nights. Now the pucks are going in and they have won the last 14 in a row. During that period Mantha has been better than a point per game. But it is more than that. he is playing D, playing physical, and has added some play making to his game. The thought of Mantha-Larkin-Scevechnikov (spelling) as our top line in a couple of years should make everyone very happy. 3 guys all 6-2 or so that can skate, handle the puck, play D and score is what we need. Find a second line just like it and we are setup very nicely. 2 krsmith17 and TheXym reacted to this
