jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Howie did surprisingly well in the shootout. I can't recall what round it went to(we had at least six attempts) and Howie only let in two. Can't do much when our guys aren't scoring. jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) @KICKAZZ: Yeah dude, hes done some awesome stuff that shows he has the hands for whatever reason he's just not been trying anything fancy. I thought he was going to be a game changing dangler like datsyuk is/was Cuz his first season he'd try stuff like this in game. For whatever reason, he hasn't been doing anything good with the puck. I want to say its just his lack of confidence, but maybe his back is actually be that messed up that he can't do that stuff anymore. Like his penalty shot a few games ago, he looked like he was gonna try something, then just took a shot from just inside the top of the circle. As for the video... I think he just pulled the between the legs thing too soon, if he'd done that closer to the middle of the ice, then went back blocker side I think it would've worked. Look at how relaxed and poised he is with the puck.. I get its just the chl skills challenge, but I'd he was that calm and confident in the NHL I think he'd be much better off. He looked so good with sheahan and Tatar, and mickey and ken talking about how good the kids were. Hes too good to be the player he is now, I hope he gets his confidence back, or his back heals up, Cuz we could use that guy. Especially in shoot outs, since our best players try the same move every time or just can't score on em. e_prime 1,936 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 Didn't see the game either? Was it the case of "another game where we weren't able to close it out in regulation?"
Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 Lol holy s*** Howard still bashed on when 100% of the fault was the forwards/defensemen lack of compete tonight. Mind boggling you guys. Mind boggling. I miss N9 more than ever. I don't.
NerveDamage 4,176 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 Didn't see the game either? Was it the case of "another game where we weren't able to close it out in regulation?" quite the opposite. Just like the previous game against Vancouver, Detroit trailed by two for a good part of the game. We were complaining about weak third periods but they really shone on this one. Apparently this isn't a 60 minute team, so I rather see them finish up strong than letting the game slide out of their hands like previous games.
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 I don't. Are you tellin me you don't miss watching this oldie on ice?!
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 Nyquist could be one of the very best goal scorers in the league if he had Ghallagher's mentality just being fearless despite your size. I love nyquist but any unbiased person watching enough wings games would say this man is a huge Wimp... Him and Tatar don't have that fierce competitive spirit that dats and z had. Not because they don't want to but because it's too hard.I disagree about Tatar, in particular. He plays in the trenches without any hesitation. He might not be super effective all the time cuz he's a small guy, but that has never stopped him from trying.
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Tatar is more aggressive than Nyquist for sure. But it's usually ineffective. Doesn't help much when you're 5'10 and 175 lbs. I'm actually a proponent of Tats gaining some more muscle weight. He has the "fearless" side to him, just wish he had the "strength". Datsyuk/Zetterberg were 180 lbs according to their prospect sheet. They've both been around 195+ lbs since early in their prime. It helps to gain some muscle. jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Yeah, but with the game leaning away from the heavy stuff and becoming more about speed, I'd rather tats stay fast, so hell put on weight as he gets older... hopefully. I do like how he plays, if he was three inches taller he'd be one of our most popular players. Edited December 19, 2015 by jimmyemeryhunter

ami 273 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 Didn't see the game but seen score Looks like I didn't miss much You did. You missed a lots of frustration. If one's intention's to see a freak show, that game would've been lots of fun. Unfortunately, my intention was to watch a red wings hockey game...
brett 1,029 Report post Posted December 19, 2015 i think jurco should be 3rd line with sheahan and tatar or nyquist and bump nyquist or tatar to 2nd line with dats an richards or helm, probably richards cause he would be useless on the 4th line. i really dont like the line combos that he finally picked 1 krsmith17 reacted to this
