Horrible coaching imo. How about talking about how Kronwall has not played like our number 1 Dman consistently? How about talking about how bad Kindl looks everytime he is out there we are hemmed in our zone. How about talking about the stupid plays that Dekeyser makes? Babs tried to suppress that as much as possible and it didn't work out well for him or the team. Blashill has loosened the chains on Smith's aggressiveness a bit, and sometimes it results in a takeaway, or keeping the play alive in the offensive zone, and sometimes he gets burned. Unfortunately last night he got burned and there was no one that could bail him out. But I think if we're going to see Smith play well on the offensive side of the puck, at least for the time being we have to accept that these kind of plays are going to happen. Then Pavel and Smith got caught too close together. That was on both of them, but Smith has to let a wrister go before that gap closes and the play turns into a giveaway. That cant happen. Mrazek bailed Smith out on 1 of 2 mistakes. But at the end of the game, Smith joins the rush and gets an assist on Pav's goal. Finishes even. But I will admit that it was a bad game for Smith. Some players just take a lot of heat, and Smith is definitely one of those players. Smitty has been great though, for the majority of this season, but especially the last handful of games here. During the playoffs the last few years he comes out and plays like a top pairing guy, then during the regular season he looks like he has legitimate learning disabilities... I've come to think the fast pace during the playoffs is how he normally is and when everyone else starts picking up that pace he stands out with less screw ups comparatively to everyone else making more mistakes. I think for the most part, kip was somewhat fair in his analysis, we just disagreed on Smith's potential and whether or not he was likely to reach that potential.
