If the coach thinks taking out our best offensive defenseman will improve scoring, then so be it. krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted March 7, 2016 I know there are a very small few that still support Smith here, but even the biggest Smith haters (as stupid as it may be) have to see the upside Smith brings to this lackluster defense... He's by far the most efficient skater on the back end, he's been one of the few defenseman that has actually been able to get shots through from the point, and despite not putting up the points, has been generating a lot of scoring chances. I think yesterday's game he was one of our best defenseman (again) and was making a lot happen in the offensive zone. Now he's the odd man out again? f*** off... He's still going to make a scattered bad play, and because that's what he's become known for by fans, those are the plays most people concentrate on, but there's no question, that the majority of games he's played this season, the positives have heavily outweighed the negatives. I think this season, DeKeyser has been far and away our best all around defenseman, despite his struggles of late, Quincey has been by far the most steady on the back end, and Smith has been one of our better defenseman at generating scoring opportunities, despite, like was mentioned before, the lack of point production... What concerns me is now our offense is dead. Mrazek was literally what was keeping us in it and he's in a slump. Before it was an issue of 1 out of 3 factors. Now it's an issue of all 3 factors. Pulkkinen and Ant Man need to be in the line up and need to be on the pp firing shots. No more Richards. No more Abdelkader on the first line. No more Tatar and Nyquist turnovercapades. Get the kids out there and pressure the shyte out of the opponent. We keep playing 500 hockey we won't be making the playoffs , time to wake the f*** up First thing I think we should do is bring back the Larkin zetterberg abdelkader line , maybe that'll get Larkin going again ...
