Live with the kids making mistakes or die with the vets playing like they don't care. Richards and Tatar assisted on the only two goals for today, but alright. Aethernum 276 Report post Posted March 27, 2016 Well, I guess getting an assist apiece makes it ok that they've been bad most of the year. Tatar is second on the team in goals. Richards is the top point getter for our bottom two lines - which is where he plays. For a team that is lacking offense, maybe getting rid of those guys isn't a great idea. But he and Nyquist have both spent much of the year in the bottom 6, and they're outperforming Richards by a lot. Richards 5v5 scoring rate is the worst on the team besides Miller and a few guys that only played a few games. He's been doing well lately, so I wouldn't expect replacing him to do much, but probably wouldn't hurt. Glendening has also been playing well lately, but I'd take him out as well. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

And Tatar first on the team in running around like a 10 year old with ADD and choosing to skate through 3 defenders instead of passing to a wide open teammate. Richards is mostly useless, top point getter for the bottom 2 lines is like being the tallest Munchkin in Oz. Points aren't everything, and in the case of Tatar and Nyquist the benching is a wake up call to pull their heads out of their behinds and play the way they can. 1 Detroit \# 1 Fan reacted to this

Nyquistfan14 489 Report post Posted March 27, 2016 Larkin - Datsyuk - Mantha Nyquist - Zetterberg - Abdelkader Tatar - Athanasiou - Jurco Sheahan - Richards / Glendening - Helm I really like those lines. Gotta get AA more minutes, Tatar plays well with jurco and I think that line would play really fast. Hopefully pav would get Larkin going. 1 13dangledangle reacted to this

marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted March 31, 2016 Mantha demoted to the fourth line, Ericsson still gets to play over Smith. I'm absolutely over Blashill. He has been god awful. Even Babs decided to win or lose with the kids before he left. Blash is continuously relying on old, broken down vets. It is 100% on him if we don't make the playoffs this year. krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted March 31, 2016 I do like Blashill's system and approach to the game, however his lines and player usage is the worst I've seen... Having Athanasiou and Mantha on the 4th line with Glendening is disgusting... Although, as we all know, there's zero chance it stays like that for an entire game, may not even start like that tomorrow, none the less, frustrating to say the least... krsmith17 7,191 Report post Posted March 31, 2016 Any system takes time. Yeah, they probably should be adapting better, especially through 77 games of a season, but with a new coach and such a huge turnover on the roster, including 3 rookies, we shouldn't really have expected a smooth transition. Even so, our 5on5 goals for and against per game, is not a whole lot different from last season. It's the special teams that's the issue, and that falls on Firschweiler and Granato more so than Blashill. Blash needs time to adjust and so do the players to his system, but I don't think there's a problem with his approach to the game, as much as there is with his player usage and line combos... Scratching players and limiting minutes of some of your top young players, while leaning too heavily on the veterans is not a recipe for success... In my mind, that is where the issue lies, not the system he has put in place...
nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted March 31, 2016 Larkin - Datsyuk - Mantha Nyquist - Zetterberg - Abdelkader Tatar - Athanasiou - Jurco Sheahan - Richards / Glendening - Helm Like the lines although don't see Blashill putting in jurco or pulkkinen with 5 games remaining ... Think datsyuk and zetterberg need to be split up and put with younger kids ... Didn't athanasiou mantha have chemistry in Grand Rapids? What about Athanasiou datsyuk mantha Larkin zetterberg nyquist Tatar sheahan abdelkader Glendening helm Richards Sheahan has been scoring a few goals lately so maybe keeping him on the 3rd line is best for now, had it with Tatar and nyquist so maybe moving one up and moving abdelkader down it'll do something? Lineup changes won't make a different regardless unless our goalies start making key saves Any system takes time. Larkin athanasiou mantha marchenko , and let's not forget pulkkinen although he hasn't played as much I'm pissed at how we're playing but don't know why people are shocked , this is what I been saying for along time we needed to call up some kids to blend in with the vets now instead of having 3-4 rookies a season for the next few years We got ouellet sproul Jensen in the backend all out of waivers next year so more headaches in the backend for sure next season Trades will need to happen in the off season to address our problem in the back end 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

Technically, the team is better offensively with AA on the ice than Datsyuk, and we've been a disaster defensively with Mantha on the ice. Mantha has only been getting 4th-line minutes anyway, and I doubt that will change. I don't like Richards moving up with Datsyuk over Tatar/Nyquist, or even Sheahan, but I think moving down could be good for Mantha.
nyqvististhefuture 1,002 Report post Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) What the hell is blashill thinking ... So apparently looks like were going back to the good old helm richards datsyuk line ,haven't we played that line to death?think pavel deserves better skilled younger forwards than a checker and a fellow veteran who's on the decline Meanwhile we call up mantha and athanasiou 2 skilled fast kids who can score and are putting them on the 4th line with glendening Not getting Blashill Edited April 1, 2016 by nyqvististhefuture

Nyquistfan14 489 Report post Posted April 6, 2016 The only thing it may do is add more identity to that line as I feel jurco is a little bit more grind it out as opposed to mantha
redwingmachine 189 Report post Posted April 6, 2016 It must be an analytic / match up thing against Philly's 4th line.... It definitely seems like an odd move, I for one have liked what I've seen from Mantha so far. I agree Jurco should be in the lineup but not so sure it's should be at Mantha's expense. We've won our last 2 (w/Mantha in), why shake things up? 2 krsmith17 and Wheelchairsuperhero reacted to this
