Bob McKenzie just confirmed on TSN Insider trading that the NHL asked Scott to decline to participate in the ASG and he refused to do so...now that trade. 1 + 1 = 2 f*** THE NHL

Would like to see fan reaction to this once its out.

This is bullcrap. Another reason for me to care less about this boring league. Scott playing was pretty much the only reason I wanted to see the game.

The one guy that actually wants to be there, they kick out

It's a gutless league that likes to alienate its own fans. Same league that's had 3 separate lockouts in the last few decades. Bettman and the other suits just don't get it.

I wish I could post pics on mobile, but some guy on reddit runs a tshirt biz, and Scott had had tshirts made for all his ASG teammates. NHL really botched this one. Sent the guy across a continent with his wife about to give birth to twins all because the don't want him to play in the ASG.

shame shame

The entire Montreal franchise is a joke for agreeing to this farce of a trade. They have no intention of calling up Scott and are basically kissing the league's ass.

Well. At the very least they could still keep him on the roster and active OEL to represent the Coyotes.

Everyone wins.

But it's the NHL and its a s*** all star game. I thnk I may just watch whatever skill competition Larkin will be in (im assuming the speed competition) and call it.

I feel the exact same way.

Dumb that he was in it but in a funny way.. Dumb move in a sad way that he's being forced out of it.

Bad PR move by the league too really.. him playing, although a ridiculous thing, would lead to many more viewers. When is the last time you remember the all-star game getting talked about this much?

This, this, this! Look, everyone who watches hockey even a little knows Scott is a joke of a player. But the ASG is a joke game. You let the guy play, laugh it off, fix the voting mistake next year, and the PR is great for the NHL. You stand by the commitment you made, even if it's a mistake. This whole situation just hurts the image of the league, not to mention Phoenix (er... Arizona). I get they want Domi or OEL there, but it looks bad on them to do this, and when the team is already struggling to build a fan base, they really can't afford a negative PR move.

Agreed. It would be cool if the Phoenix players declined and said they wanted Scott.

It really doesn't hurt anything. This will be forgotten about in a couple months, people will move on. The ones that choose to dwell on this, well then.. yeah. no comment.

Here's another thing I'd say about Scott. All those people who championed the "vote Scott" campaign (most notable Puck Daddy) need to do the right thing and publicize the hell out of this. Maybe even start a petition or boycott. They had as much to do with this as anyone, and it would be a shame if they threw up their hands after essentially getting him involved in this in the first place.

I'm also a little annoyed that Don Cherry, Mike Milbury, and the rest of the pro fighting crowd, have remained mum regarding Scott. How fickle. You're going to go on and on about how great fighting is, and then don't support a fighter that's getting railroaded. Makes you question their motives for sure.

The fans should boo all over this sh***show just like the Royal Rumble the last few years. They should boo every player that gets introduced during the pre-game festivities. Let the league know what a boring joke they've become.
