Jakub Kindl waived

Why didn't holland just trade him for Seth Jones! What an idiot

Holland IS an idiot. Waited 3 months to start working on this. Waited til Kindl was a healthy scratch for forever to start wlrking on this. The right time for him to move him was after his OT goal in November. But our GM is a total failure. Now we get nothing for him. Another high draft pick wasted.

What makes you think anything would have been different then?

How do you know he hasn't been trying to trade him for a while now? People are upset Kindl has been waived? He had zero value. Holland can't win on this forum.

Ha.

It's common knowledge just started trying to trade him the other day when quincey was cleared, Holland just is too stupid to think a week in advance and hasn't been trying to trade kindl the last few seasons.

Bahahha.

Either Holland is actually ridiculously stupid, or the people who think this is the case are, that our they left the bridge they're supposed to be guarding...

It's incredible how you managed to get insider info on what Holland is and isn't doing on a regular basis...

Before Blash, Babcock had been scratching Kindl regularly. An OT goal in November did nothing to increase his value. Dude has been a marginal player for years. His best, I think, was the shortened season. I thought Kindl played well that year and in the playoffs, was hoping he had turned a corner. Oh, well. Good luck, Kindl.

Kindl will hopefully get picked up. I'd like to see the guy get a shot elsewhere. For those who think Kenny has only just started trying to trade Kindl, as Ansar posted in his tweet, the Wings couldn't take back salary.

For those flaming Kenny for putting Kindl on waivers, would you also be flaming if he sent Marchenko down to the Griffs? The shortened season was his best, and is why he got the contract he did. Unfortunately he found his way in Babcock's doghouse and never got out. If he had built on the promise he showed to get the contract, it would be a completely different narrative.

No team is going to cut Holland a break in a trade, and I'd be willing to bet most would give any other GM a better deal than they would Holland. The Wings have been good for a long time and some see them on a downswing. No other GM wants to be the one who reloaded the Wings for another two decades of excellence. Plus, why would anyone waste a draft pick if they know the guy is likely to hit waivers.

Guarantee holland has been trying to trade Kindl for years

This is the problem, Joesuff. Everyone will defend Ken Holland until they are forced to drown or stop defending him. Ken Holland just re-signed this guy 2 years ago. Why is Holland the ONLY GM seeing double the actual value in Kindl, Weiss, Howard, Ericsson, etc etc etc. He's an idiot. That's why.

Holland has been trying to trade Kindl for approximately 1.5 years. That is a publicly known fact. The following tweet is from about 15 months ago. Kindl just happened to get another shot at it with Blash.

Told Red Wings are "very active" in taking calls to try & trade Jakub Kindl. Nothing imminent by any stretch, but they are shopping him.

I've always said he was a wasted 1st rounder. He has showed me flashes of maybe, just maybe he could stay in the lineup, but for the most part of the last 10 years, I had wished we didn't draft him. In hindsight, we could've drafted Niskinen instead...or Oshie. But, we aren't the only team to draft a D-Man before Niskinen that didn't pan out. Draft's are always gamble. I do remember screaming when they picked him though, it was the lottery draft and that was the highest pick we've had in a log time and I hated that it was wasted on another soft European style player. I actually wanted then to draft Latendresse, whowent after Abdelkader in the 2nd, but looking back, Oshie would've been good and James Neal as well! But who knew!?!? Didn't like the Kindl pick, that's all I know.

Again, too bad we couldn't swing a deal to get some kind of return for him, but I guess we'll have to settle for the roster spot and the cap relief as the return...anyone know his cap hit if he gets to go to GR? I think you can only bury $950,000 and then there's some kind of percentage thing that happens...

Kindl and Nedomnel for Kirby Rychel. That'd work for me.

AGAIN, Holland signed him for 4 years. Why would he do that if he is trying to trade him? Makes zero sense.

Not a surprise that Kindl is on waivers. Reading the replies, people are really analyzing the move, however, it's nothing more then making cap room for Quincey coming back.

The problem is that he just doesn't have enough value to trade for even for a late round pick when teams know he is going on waivers most likely. They might as well try their chances and if they don't get him oh well.

Agree, the Wings weren't getting anything for him with other teams knowing they were wanting to get rid of his contract.

I just think it would be unfair to scratch Ericsson because he is just coming back from injury. 5 more games with no improvement then I think he deserves to sit.

Blashill loves Marchenko, they'll find a way to keep him in the lineup but scratching Smith would also be a mistake. Wings are in a tough roster crunch, a trade would help

Huh? Kindl was waived so that we don't have to send Marchenko down... Unless you just meant, you can easily see Marchenko being the 7th defenseman / healthy scratch... In which case, could happen, but I still think it should be Ericsson. And this is coming from one of the very few Ericsson supporters... Marchenko is never going to be a spectacular defenseman, but he is doing exactly what he's asked, and he's been a rock back there ever since he's been recalled from GR.
