Miller Out With Lower Body Injury

Ya, the Malarchuk incident was crazy. Skate to the throat, then you seem whip his mask off on his knees and put his hand on his throat and it's just pouring blood. Thankfully for the quick action my the medics and doctors, he lived. Haven't seen anything like it since. After I saw that I started wearing a throat protector and a dangler on my mask.

Same thing happened to Richard Zednik, but he was able to get off the ice right away.

Wow that's awful. Two thirds of the unhappy triad (I wonder if his MCL was also injured but not damaged to the point of requiring surgery). I wonder what the long term implications of that are going to be on his career. I'm not all that familiar with the surgery.

Wings won't be going far past the first round of playoffs without good PK. Better learn to adjust without the guy.

Wonder if injury is from all those blocked shots hes taken.

They tend to be due to blows to the knee, which forces the knee to bend against the ligaments.

Not sure why you think that means he's done with the Wings.

If Holland re-signs Miller, that will cement all the epoxy coated nails through the fiberglass around the laminated oak coffin for Ken Holland being a total waste of space. Larkin, Athanasiou, Helm, Glendening. Thats our pk forward squad going forward.

Didn't seem to have made much of a difference the last few playoff 1st round exits has it?

Wings were rank 2 with 93% PK last year and took Tampa (a team that went to stanley cup finals) to game 7.

Special teams are known to make an inherent difference in the playoffs. That's why refs are expected to be on top of their game when handing out penalties during the playoffs.

Here's hoping Drew has a swift and complete recovery and is able to still play afterwards, if not with the Wings, then elsewhere. He has been a great soldier for the Wings in his time here, and a great penalty killer, regardless of the ignorance of some who can't comprehend it. When the NBCSN guys say he is a 14 percent difference on the PK, that is a HUGE impact.

I'm sure he is resting and rehabbing, probably listening to track 11 off of the RHCP Blood Sugar Sex Magic album since it is such a chill jam.

Excellent Point! I knew he was good for us on the PK, but I didn't realize he was THAT good.

I remember hearing a story about how their team doc at the time was military, and that combined with Zednick's quick reaction to get off the ice was what saved his life.

Can't find a source, so I might be imagining that story, but it always stuck with me. In my head the scene in the locker room is something out of a war movie, with the doc straddling Zednick on a stretcher clamping off his carotid with his fingers. Intense stuff!

So I guess Miller wasn't faking after all. :sleepy:

Fake torn meniscus pics and maybe now a fake surgery. err whatever the conspiracy theorists were saying.

It makes perfect sense lol. Fake an injury, fake medical documents, fake a medical procedure, get an entire team of doctors and medical professionals to all be in on it, all to save placing Joakim Andersson on waivers.

How he does that and still only work 3 days a year is beyond me.
