At 2-1 I thought we had a shot, but we were getting out played too bad. Still, pretty damn good road trip. Howie gave us a chance most of the night, 3rd goal was a bit of a stinker. Probably played our best game of the season vs Arizona first time around so let's do that again Thursday.

Jimmy wasn't bad but the 3rd goal should have been stopped. If mrazek played tonight I think we would have won.

One thing I noticed last game and especially this game is that pav is finally starting to look like himself. This was the best game he's had this year.... great to see and I'm sure more to come.

I don't know what blashill was thinking with 11 forwards on a back to back against the kings. Another dumb coaching decision there.

Overall we were bound to lose a game on this trip so hopefully the boys regroup and finish the trip strong on Thursday with petr in net.

Welp, our luck had to run out eventually. Dats and Helm looked better. Nyqvist is a complete turd, I really hope he gets dealt before it's too late. He looks even worse in the top six. Other than him, I thought it was a good effort from the team considering they played a tough game last night and against a very physical and liberal LA team tonight. They just have to respond against Arizona

I'm surprised at his slump right now.

Honestly, I used to love Nyqvist. He was my favourite player besides the vets, but this year I just hate watching him play hockey. He just epitomizes everything we need to transition away from to be one of the better teams in the league.

Agreed. There used to be 5-10 teams that played playoff hockey from October to June. Now there are 20-25. Only a handful of teams will get in an icecapades skate off with us, and Nyquist shines when there isnt a body on him all game. The other 85% of the time, he gets completely nullified.

Remember when people on here and HFboards were trying to say he was the next perennial 40 goal scorer in the nhl? LOL

Teams like the Kings have no issue whatsoever in 'bullying' our smaller players...Does not help that the refs kept their whistles in their pockets too.

That's the problem. What you refer to as bullying is just called hockey now. Used to be called playoff hockey before that. Used to be called the Devils' trap before that. The NHL's small rink negates a skill players ability to maneuver unless he is exceptionally fast and strong (Fedorov, Larkin). Nyquist belongs in the 1975 to 1985 era on Buffalo's 2nd line. He's crafty, but has zero strength and very mediocre skating. Pulkinnen serves better in his spot. Gus needs to go.

When a defenseman pinches along the halfboards attempting to keep the play alive in the offensive zone (which Smith has been very good at this season), the winger is supposed to read that and cover the point. That first goal was more so on Tatar for not getting back to cover Smith and even Larkin for his (rare) awful backcheck, than it was Smith, but hey, why stray from the narrative, Smith sucks right?... Now that second play, later in the first when Smith got shoved from behind into the boards, could have easily been a penalty, however Smith did seem to go down way too easily, and I would assume that's the same thing the ref seen as well. I blame him for being weak on the puck there, and causing that 3 on 1, but the first goal was not on Smith.
