Bill Berzeench 310 Report post Posted January 15, 2016 http://www.nhl.com/ice/m_news.htm?id=797784 This is a serious accomplishment. Babcock this, Babcock that. Blah blah blah. Meanwhile, this guy is simply winning. Will be interesting to see if he can rack up the extra 500 wins he needs to pass Scotty. 1 RedWingsRox reacted to this

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted January 15, 2016 Highly unlikely he catches Bowman, it's almost unthinkable actually. He'd have to coach for another 10-12 years assuming he wins at a rate of 40-45 a year, which likely isn't possible either. That put him close to 70 years old....possible, but I highly doubt he'd be coaching that long. Bowman coached for about 11 more years than Joel as well...so winning % is about in line with Bowman. If he gets on with a hot team, he may stick around long enough....who knows....that's what happened with Bowman and Detroit. Joel is with such a team now, but it's unlikely that maintain their status for the next 10 years .
LeftWinger 4,961 Report post Posted January 15, 2016 at our former coach not even being in the top 10...yet, of course. (btw, not bitter he left, dislike him for his treatment of Fedorov.)

Son of a Wing 1,644 Report post Posted January 16, 2016 Trotz and Tippet are probably the most underrated coaches in the league I don't think they're underrated at all. Most in the business would consider them top 5.
kliq 3,755 Report post Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) Trotz and Tippet are probably the most underrated coaches in the league Ya Frank I dont know where you got them being underrated from.Just one of many examples, here is an article from NHL.com (it is from 2 years ago) where they rank Trotz as the #2 coach in the NHL and Tippet as #4. When you are being called top 4 in the world that is not underrated. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=664268 Edited January 16, 2016 by kliq

I'd really love to see what Tippet could do with a non internal budget team. Q's extension kicks after his 2 remaining years so he will be in Chicago for at least 5 more years. Hawks didn't a better job of keeping the contract details secure instead of leaking it to the media like Toronto did. You mean Babcock correct? He didn't coach Fedorov in Detroit. Unless your talking about when he coached him in Anaheim? What happened there?

I think this may also be in reference to a trade deadline a few years back where Holland wanted to bring back Fedorov and Babcock supposedly put the kibosh on it. Who knows the truth on this, but in any event, that was such a bummer. I would've loved to have seen Feds finish his career as a Wing.
