Joakim Andesson on Waivers

I almost hope he's claimed. If not just to save Kenny from himself this offseason.

The timing's definitely peculiar, though. Safe bet is that they're calling up a defender, but that means he's being called up to sit. Not really Holland's M.O.

Unless... the triumphant return of Brian Lashoff? :bye:

I sure hope we get to see Jensen, its my opinion, he is the better of the 3 down there, PLUS if gets in, we'd have 3 RH'd d-men playing! Crazy! I'd bring him up and give either E or Smith some games off here and there for the next month or so...

Love this, Smith has probably been playing his best hockey as a Wing and you want him to sit for what reason? E i totally agree with.

I assume when Richards is back he'll be the one to take Andersson's spot. There may be a call up but I don't know if the call up will get any playing time.

Bout time. Hope he gets claimed, but it won't happen. And I agree he should have been waived before Ferraro.

Is Richards hurt again? Guys been pretty much useless this season. I know he's getting up there, but he was solid for Chicago last year. Figures when the Wings get him he does nothing for them.

No, he was at his grandfather's funeral.

I think Ferraro was waived before Andy for a few reasons...

1. Ferraro is not a good face off man.

2. Although Andy is MUCH slower, hes MUCH more consistent defensively and on the pk.

3. Size.

Ferraro isn't small, but Andy is a legit 6'2 and may get leveled quite a bit, but he'll take the hit to make the pla

These are also reasons why I think Ferraro got claimed, and I think they believed Andy had a higher risk of getting claimed (I don't think he will) than ferraro, but ferraro is younger and his full upside is still TBD at this level, and Boston was desperate for someone like him after the injuries they were dealing with (they just lost their 4th line c/rw for the year who was also their best pk-er.

I actually think Andy will clear, and be re-signed and be able to be called back up and down when needed without worrying about being claimed as long as some team doesn't have a plague of injuries...

No reason, did I say sit him the entire 4 weeks? No, I said rotate him for some rest. I agree he has been playing good, but he still makes boneheaded giveaway's every game. Who else are you going to sit for Jensen, just E? I'd love that, but E is not going to sit, so do you sit Marchy, who seems to be playing much better than E and Smith at times? I was just suggesting ways of getting some looks at another kid...

True, but right now they only have 6 D-men and when Andy clears or gets claimed, they will only have 12 forwards WITH Richards. They could actually bring up 2 players, one of each, to fill the roster. I vote for Jensen and Mantha!

guess nobody really wants our scrubs then...here is the sad thing, we've been hindering the young players by playing guys in our NHL roster that nobody else in the NHL would even take for free...why have we been mediocre again?

I don't see how another team not wanting to claim some of our players means that we're hindering our younger players.

I'm unsure I see the correlation.

Every team has guys who would clear waivers. The Wings aren't unique here.

Especially when "hindering" our young players is the reason we have 24 straight playoff appearances. No other team can even come close to saying that. We just happen to do things the right way and develop our guys.

Andersson isn't being assigned to GR yet according to Blashill. He's staying with the Wings. The waiver was just a formality to allow them to send him down and call up someone if/when necessary quickly without having to wait for the waiver period to make the move.
