Joakim Andesson on Waivers

Ferraro has 7 points in 37 games with Boston. HUGE mistake giving him to boot!!!

Hey bro.

He had something like 5 points 4 games when we first waived him.

Do you remember when people started including Janmark in their Calder votes like 5 games into the season, "Holland is so bad, blahblahblah, derpppderppp all star, rabble rabble calder"

Ha.

guess nobody really wants our scrubs then...here is the sad thing, we've been hindering the young players by playing guys in our NHL roster that nobody else in the NHL would even take for free...why have we been mediocre again?

We're not talking half our team here, we are talking 2 out of 3 players. Ferrero was claimed, Andersson and Kindl were not claimed. I am sure every team has 1-2 guys that could go through waivers and not get claimed at any given time.

Exactly.

Real talk here:

Has Andersson not been waived before? Why do I feel like this is not the first time that Andersson has passed through waivers?

Either way, I feel like neither Kindl nor Andersson passing through waivers should be that surprising, nor is it an indictment of poor roster management, a broken team, or overly detrimental to our ability to make the playoffs.

I guess "hindering" was used in the wrong sense, maybe "hindering" their rise to the NHL is what I meant.

Last season, even Holland himself said, he is not going to keep XO here at the expense of waiving Kindl. So right there, we kept Kindl at the expense of a NHL ready XO. Andersson as well. We could've had AA up here all season long, we could've had Pulkkinen all last season instead of Andersson/Cleary. I understand you don't want them sitting in the pressbox, and that would hinder them, but it's just funny that Holland refused to waive these guys because of their value to the team, when in reality, this team is the only place they had any value, and we see where that value is now. Personally this season I would've like to have AA and XO/Jensen (who IMO, earned a spot on this roster out of pre-season, but we couldn't waive our MVP Kindl) up here along with Larkin and Marchenko all season long. They would've gotten plenty of games in thus far and been more valuable to the team than K/Andy and Cleary all of which passed through waivers... I am glad he finally did it, and hope to see some more kids here sooner rather than later! I just found it funny that keeping these guys here over our NHL ready kids, did nothing for us, other than keep kids out of the NHL, and when it came time to trim some fat, 29 other teams thought just as high of these guys as most of us did/do. Thanks, but no thanks...

I actually think Holland was right in keeping Kindl at that point in time.

Did he refuse to waive him? Yes. ..but wasn't that the plan all along?

See if you can make a worthwhile trade for him before just tossing him aside?

Later in the year you're looking at the prospect of having a new coach in the coming season; is it better to see if a player like Kindl will pick up his play under that new coach or to waive him without giving him the chance?

See if he's got more value in a trade then?

...and It's not at the expense of your younger players if the plan is to let them over-ripen in the AHL.

He's kinda been doing it for years, so I don't see why we're at all surprised when it happens.

(Nyquist, Tatar, Pulks, Jurcs, the list goes on and on)

I'm not saying it's right or that I agree with it, but there are reasons behind it. It's not Holland being stubborn or not doing anything or really refusing. It's call doing his job in the manner that he sees fit.

Just because we don't happen to like it doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense to the General Manager and his plan.

You're surely welcome to call him out on it, but it's not making and breaking the team.

No GM has any control over being able to get the guys you want to clear waivers to clear and the guys you want to get picked up to get picked up. Case in point: Chicago and Bryan Bickell (not claimed) Viktor Tikhonov (claimed)

Ha.

The year before it was Jarnkrok, this year was Janmark. Next year Jensen.

See the trend. :ninja:

I love that Jensen has been recalled, but in all honesty, I doubt he gets in a game unless there is another injury... I like the size and strength Tangradi would bring to our 4th line, but same thing applies, unless there's another injury, I doubt he plays...

Absolutely. Tangradi uses his size everywhere on the ice. He's a pretty mean dude, but lacks in overall skill level. In saying that, I do think it would be worth a shot to see if he is capable playing in a 4th line role. There's one thing for sure, he isn't any worse than Andersson, and also brings a physical element to the team, something they could really use...

Both Jarnkrok and Janmark were traded not waived. Neither saw time with the Wings.

Be happy, at least Jensen's getting a look before he's dealt or waived.

I heard that Smith may not be able to go, so Jensen would get in if that is the case....

....Prime, I certainly hope he doesn't get traded or claimed off waivers! UGH! He made such a great case during pre-season to be in the NHL, I hope he stays with Detroit, but alas, it is a business. I'd hate to see him go, but if it meant getting someone back that would help more, so be it....unless they re-sign Q, and have to expose those 3 (XO, Sproul, Jensen) and that would suck!
