Yeah, i'm not sure. The Wings are loyal to players, but I don't recall a time when they were overly loyal to a goalie who was playing badly or his career was done. Can't really do that, at least not for too long. I doubt Holland wants to lose Howard for barely anything, or nothing, but his trade value isn't high right now. He's a very expensive backup.. A change of team could help him out though. Guess we'll have to wait and see. If he can't trade him, he could buy him out, or waive him.

i cant see holland waiving jimmy and losing him for nothing but i do see a buy out in a few years if he continues to devolve i truly believe jimmy lost his starting roll status he might only be a backup for any of the teams but thats why no one will trade for him if they believe his no longer starting goalie

Of course everyone is going to blame Jimmy, but I don't think he had a bad game at all. We gave way too many good chances.

No, Jimmy did'nt have a bad game, it's just his habit of letting in a stinker at the worst possible time that did them in. If you can't make the crucial stops when needed, who cares about the rest of the game really?

Guess it all depends how things go in the next year or so. Maybe he'll get his s*** together and become a nice trade piece, or he'll keep sucking and Holland will be forced to let him go by whatever means necessary. No one will want $5 million sitting on the bench for 60-70 games a year. He'll have to lose him for nothing, because he'd be worth nothing. Just like Philly with Bryzgalov. No one would touch that contract.

yea i mean its a shame because id rather see jimmy traded and find a better career somewhere else rather than be benched but his not touching mrazek

First time I've ever turned off a game because of the officiating. I refuse to watch that nonsense. I know the Wings' pp is bad and it probably wouldn't have changed the outcome anyway, but I'm not going to subject myself to that frustration. Pathetic.

Edit: also, I've lost quite a bit of faith in Howard. I've always thought he was a good goalie, but he just can't seem to bail the team out lately.

Def. agree. Sucks to see someone lose their career, but he's in control of what happens. He's getting starts. He should make the most of them and other teams might get interested enough to inquire about him. And no, I don't think he'll get his job back from Mrazek. He's alot younger, more talented and confident, and will only get better. If I was Howard i'd be thinking about my options.

Just saw highlights ... one or two of the goal is on Howie but hey, that's hockey.

Stats don't lie. In terms of game distribution, Mrazek is the starter. He played 32 vs. Howie's 18. Time to make it official if it isn't already.

I thought it was official?! ...Crown him

was that incompetent officiating or just biased? I don't honestly remember so many clear penalties not called since we played Anaheim and Pittsburgh in 2009... To win we had to be clearly better than Anaheim. Basically, stopped watching in the third.

PS I don't like us starting Howard but this is probably the first game this season with Howard in net, where the loss is not on him.

Didn't watch the game, but it sounds like Howard may have given up a couple of softies...again...I know Petr cannot start all the games, but its getting to the point with Jimmy to where he isn't worth keeping around as a backup. The reason everyone gives to NOT trade him sooner rather than later is that we wouldn't have a competent backup...well we don't now, Coreau can come up and give up 4+ goals a game when he gets a start, and for a crap ton less money!

Sure wish we could've seen this downfall coming a few years ago coicinding with the rise of Petr....oh wait, some did. :ninja:

Should've traded Jimmy two deadlines ago when his stock was high and his contract still "looked" good, now we're going to have to eat some of his contract to whomever we trade him to. Howard for Lupul in contract swaps look good right about now!

Didn't watch the game....

You should've watch it had a bit of everything including the frustration created by the bs ref calls and mishandling of Dats. Howard did all he could and kept us in it, Maybe 4 goals on 25 shots seem like a bad performance but it was quite the contrary he saved the D from many mistakes that resulted in dangerous scoring chances and their respective second and third chances. I think the PP needs a new strategy. I cannot believe we went from 2nd last season (after a long time on 1st) and we're struggling this much. We finally have some more right hand players and they keep making the play to the right instead of assuming the position that gives them an advantage. There's no puck cycling going on. Anyways, can't blame this one on Jimmy

LMAO, listened to it while commuting to Detroit, but when Paul Woods says that "Jimmy wishes he had that one back..." I tend to believe that Jimmy gave up a Jimmy goal. I will take the word of Paul Woods....plus I read a lot of the post in the GDT, not very positive for Jimmy either...but, ya, Jimmy played well! Sorry don't need to watch it, I'll take the word of professionals, and pretty much know that when Jimmy starts, we lose. what's his GAA the last 4 games now? Like I said, we can bring Coreau up and at least if he plays this bad, it is to be expected and he's not getting a $5M to give up so many goals.

He may have been "alright" but he cannot make that save when the Wings need it....he is not big time, he gives up the soft goal all the time, and at the wrong time. Again, this is come to be the norm with Jimmy, so I am not surprised when it happens. He is done.

Here's some words from professionals for you.

Oh wait. Maybe by professionals you mean the LGW posters

Lmao I'm not even a Jimmy fan but at least I can keep it real. He played good. The defense choked and the refs screwed us (whether or not the calls were fair is another discussion).

I've always liked Jimmy since we're the same age. So I always want him to play well. But I'm realistic and know that his best time with the Wings might have come and gone and am really excited to see more of Petr.

I don't know if the Babs "Pool Player plays pool while the thug throws you around" mentality is still around but we need someone that steps up and plays physical when our best players are getting hammered, slashed, tripped and what not. The Ducks play a physical game and Perry can be as nasty and in your face as they come. One would hope E, being one of the biggest on our roster would stay some ground but I've seen him getting checked into the boards, bleed and not even throw a punch.

Paul Woods says "Jimmy wish he had that back" and somehow you conclude that Jimmy is done? Conclude that Jimmy played a bad game? Boy Woods must speak in some code language that only you understand.

Sounds like you're not only misinterpreting Woods and turning it into a dramatic conclusion but when I gave you examples of 4 professional assessments who thought Howard played well, you seem to ignore it.

Regardless you didn't even watch the game so whatever you say just spews out your bias on Howard. Typical.

Yep. Don't know why Paul Woods even has a job. I should definitely listen to the "pros" that all get the same news clip and they all report the same thing. Ever get the 500 different tweets that all say the same thing? No matter...Howard Slappies will slap.

I will take the word of the guy who is actually calling the game over someone who reports off of a news blip. But you're right the guy who writes for Mlive, knows a ton more than Paul Woods. Thanks, I know now not to listen to the radio broadcast because they will say things that totally aren't happening. I will just wait to read my info from mlive or freep. Cool....

BTW, usually when a commentator says a goalie would like to have that one back, doesn't mean he played an entire bad game, but it does mean he gave up a stinker goal that he shouldn't have. Which is Jimmy's problem, and which is what i said in my original post, that it sounded like Jimmy gave up a couple of softies....again. But keep holding on to him, he'll make a comeback....

When Woods or any other commentator says, "Howard wishes he had that one back." He's talking about *that* goal. Mrazek has "wanted a few back" too. Were they "Jimmy goals" or were they "Petr goals"?

Either way giving up a goal you want back and having a commentator - television, radio, print, interwebz, telegraph operator, semaphore flag waver, etc. say so, isn't the whole sixty minutes wrapped up into a nice package. It's one goal. It's a commentary on one goal.

LGW s***ting on Jimmy and saying so in the GDT because of one bad goal is not an indictment of his overall play either. It's par for the course.

Also, if you know that Jimmy is starting... and we're going to lose...so you don't watch... Don't think we're going to take your non-professional commentary seriously. You didn't watch the game. So you don't know.

Yawn. But whatever...

Opinions are like something something mumble mumble ramble rant...
