The thing is, if you put in Howard then suddenly the questions start again: Who is the Detroit goalie? Is this a timeshare? Is it a 1a, 1b situation or is Howard still the backup? I think Blashill is showing great poise and judgment in allowing his goalie to work through a bad day. He knows what the consequences would be of throwing the goalie situation back into doubt; instead, he's making a statement about who our #1 goalie is and that he has confidence in his ability to figure it out. I like it. It's a bold move.

Thats overthinking by a mile. If a goalie is having a had game you have another one dressed for a reason. It's how hockey works.

If we use that mentality, is there's now a question if Rask is truly Boston's number one? I don't think so. You dress a back-up so you have a goaltender that's having an off day, they can be replaced. Sure, the situation in Detroit has been tenuous at best this year, but I don't think pulling Petr after giving up five goals on less than 20 shots means that you're questioning his starter/#1 status.

Also, I don't think just because Petr is the number one it doesn't mean that we don't have the right to criticize an off game.

I trust Blash too which was my original point. Mraz is having a bad game, criticism pointed out. Question is why not pulled. Obvious that's upto Blash.

Questions directed at him if any from here on out. Pretty sure it's because they wouldn't want howard playing now if he's in net tomorrow. But I don't think its because he's worried about us and the press wondering who is number 1 lol
