C'mon guys! It's "Hockey Day in America" Get with the program. ;)

Islanders will be looking for a win to get out of that Wild Card spot.

We need a win to keep pace with or gain points on FLA - who also play today - as well as extend our points lead on BOS and TBL.

More than anything else, I want a solid game from Jimmy Howard and the team to play a tight, crisp game in front of him.

In OT

Wings 3

Islanders 2

Abdelkader, Green, Larkin (OT Winner)

Nielsen Nelson

If jimmy fails to get a win today I will be officially done with him. A win today and we are 1 point behind Florida. Let's go boys!

Khan said blash said he will start pav with hank and go from there. I don't like the sounds of that. How can you possibly separate them when both of them have looked much better like their old selves

We don't have home ice advantage so he may have to split them up to have 2 strong centers to spread the talent when opposing team tries to outmatch us. Home team gets last change.

Maybe for a few hours, but if they also win today against Pittsburgh... we'll still be in the same situation. So, we'll see.

We've been pretty successful against the Isles so far this season, putting Howard in is a good idea. We need him to be at least a competent back up. Right now, he feels like an automatic loss and Mrazek can't play every game.

Looking for the season sweep today!

I seriously thought about calling in sick - but my office is so small -- it would be noticed. Especially since I am pretty much never sick or absent. Gonna try to figure out how to at least keep up with the game, since work is tricky with internet and streams and such. If it's on gamecenter, I might be able to check in.

If not -- tell me again why the NHL thought this was a good idea, to have a noon broadcast of what is a work day for most people? Also, giving us back to back matinee games, plus the Wings had to travel on top of it -- one way to stack the deck against the Wings where the brass can look all innocent and say "What? There's no evil intent here!"

Wankers. :glare:

I'm starting to feel that players like Drew Miller are overrated. Our 4th line is way more threatening now with Helmer and Sheahan, not to mention Abby can kill penalties as well as Drew.

Abby Pav and Z sure are getting a lot of minutes lately looking at the last couple box scores. Hopefully that doesn't backfire in the long run.

DVR is a magical device.

Seeing how I typically work nights and weekends, I really have no sympathy for y'all moaning about missing one damn game.

Also, yes... Drew Miller is a fourth line player. He is rated. Not overrated or underrated. He does his job on the PK and is 'what he is.'

Tons of players can kill penalties, it's just whether they should be.

I could easily say that Sheahan and Helm are being wasted on the fourth line as they have more potential and are better players...

...but I don't completely disagree. Helm and Sheahan are doing a fine job on the fourth because they are versatile players.

Helm playing on the fourth is fine. He should be a fourth line or third line player tops... but do you remember when Sheahan was poised to become our second line center. He's fallen off BIG TIME. I am disappoint.
