And then a fluky penalty leads to the PK for goal number two. Whatever we say about Howard's mental stamina, if I were in his boots I'd be crumbling, too. I swear Howard must feel cursed right now. Yes, Mraz had a s*** last game and was possibly hungover, but he is driven and usually rebounds from those games with a lights out performance. He should have been given a chance to redeem himself here. I know you gotta give Jimmy a shot eventually to get his game and confidence back up, but this wasn't the game to do that. If not this game, then when? Against the Pens? I don't think Crosby and Malkin will help his confidence. Maybe against a division opponent? Maybe in the outdoor game against Colorado? The Wings have beat up the Isles pretty good this year, Mrazek needed a break and I think yesterday was a good indication of that. This was the time to play Howard, unfortunately, that first flukey goal has led to him playing pretty bad. Huge rebound on the second goal and no way should that third have gone in. For no other reason than giving Jimmy some ice time? (knowing he seems to choke when put into these situations) Seems like a bad coaching call to me given the standings currently and what needs to be done.
