Howard can't buy a break, that was about as fluky of a goal as you can get. Hopefully Jimmy bears down and the guys score some for him.

And then a fluky penalty leads to the PK for goal number two. Whatever we say about Howard's mental stamina, if I were in his boots I'd be crumbling, too. I swear Howard must feel cursed right now.

Bad coaching call to put Jimmy in this game, IMO.

Yes, Mraz had a s*** last game and was possibly hungover, but he is driven and usually rebounds from those games with a lights out performance. He should have been given a chance to redeem himself here.

I know you gotta give Jimmy a shot eventually to get his game and confidence back up, but this wasn't the game to do that.

For anyone not watching the NY feed on NHL network, they just mentioned that the fire alarm at the Wings' hotel went off at 3am. Hope it doesn't affect them too much.

This plus back to back games means Howard curse continues?

I think the team feels cursed with Howard in net the guy just can't win. The team plays with much more confidence with mrazek. He needs to go.

The NYI feed is just annoying. At least they called the bad d coverage what it was. Said they looked tired, but no mention of the fire alarm Y19 mentioned.

If not this game, then when? Against the Pens? I don't think Crosby and Malkin will help his confidence. Maybe against a division opponent? Maybe in the outdoor game against Colorado? The Wings have beat up the Isles pretty good this year, Mrazek needed a break and I think yesterday was a good indication of that. This was the time to play Howard, unfortunately, that first flukey goal has led to him playing pretty bad. Huge rebound on the second goal and no way should that third have gone in.

@xtrememachine1 (since the quote function is STILL broken for a large portion of us even after 2 years of people mentioning it)

My question is more, why wouldn't you let Mraz play, knowing he pretty much always has great rebound games from bad performances? For no other reason than giving Jimmy some ice time? (knowing he seems to choke when put into these situations)

Seems like a bad coaching call to me given the standings currently and what needs to be done.
