They'll call that every time, Tatar.

Nice awareness Glendening. You're clearly in the game for your defensive prowess.

He's not Drew Miller. ;)

Howard is looking like a 'stand-up' goalie from the 80's playing in today's game.

I was thinking more like a "Shooter Tutor" on the last goal.

....so building momentum and Howard lets in a stinker of a goal killing any and all efforts of a comeback? Say it aint so!

Speaking of Drew, where has that Bill guy been?

We used to have a plywood "Shooter Tutor" that we'd use to play the other goal when we could only get one goaltender. We called him "Guy LePine".

I want to know why we've only scored 1 goal?????? C'mon, I know Jimmy's having hard time but we're not such shining stars at the other end either.

I agree... seen this before, where the team seems unable to play decently for one goalie, but does for the other. Wings are better than this, so perhaps they can explain it to Jimmy. I don't buy the argument that they have to spend too much time playing super-D, so their offense is hurt. Nope. They are a better team than this - to succumb to the mentality that they simply cannot score for Howard.

Howard has got to go.

Glad people are seeing that now. I'm tired of hearing "Howard deserves another chance" "He'll be better tonight i just know it", "We need Howard in case Mrazek falters". "Howard is a great goaltender". No. He is not needed, he will not turn it around, if Mrazek s***s the bed Howard isn't going to do any better. He's the Wings version of the Flyers' Bryzgalov contract.

So where exactly is Howard supposed to go? They'll have to trade for another goalie, and I don't see that this season.

Trade him to the goalie graveyard in Philly for Mason.

Well, Howard would have gotten the win if they'd scored 6 goals... like they did for Mrazek with the rotten egg he laid yesterday.

Yeah Mrazek never bails out the team at all. They should never have done that for him.

Howard is no insurance, period. Get rid of him ASAP, bring Coreau up. I've said it before and still believe that Coreau can come up and do just as well (or not well) as Jimmy and all at 5X lessor the money. Clear that cap now! Trade him for future's just to get some relief.

You may as well stop saying this unless and until Howard actually starts playing decently. No one wants a goaltender who is playing terribly and is on an expensive long-term contract.

Screw it, put him on waivers and hope he gets picked up. If not, send him to GR. Honestly, what would Holland get for him anyways.

No one will pick him up on waivers. Sending him to Grand Rapids wouldn't accomplish anything - the majority of his contract would still count against the cap, and the salary of whoever replaces him would likely take up most of the small portion that could be saved.

Of course, I didn't say that Mrazek never bails the team out or any of the other words you attempted to put in my mouth there.

On that subject, were these specific LGW posts that you are quoting above? When did people say those things? Who said them?

Well if he won't get picked up on waivers, why even try to trade him? If no one wants him for nothing then they won't want to give anything up for him. Unless the Wings retain quite a bit of salary in a trade for a prospect or a pick or another backup goaltender. As for sending him to GR, why not? His salary still counts wherever he is in the system. Great opportunity for him to get in some conditioning in a low pressure setting, and would give one of the prospects some games in the NHL. Win win.

Oh I thought you meant the team should have bailed out Howard because they did it for Mrazek. Not sure who posted them, but they are always floating around in some form or another

First paragraph is of my post saying he needs to go.

He hasn't won since December 3rd..

He's also allowed 3+ goals in his last 9 games. Horrible numbers.

It would accomplish something. Maybe a few more wins for us because right now it's an auto loss when he plays.

Nah, moreso pointing out that the whole team mailed it in today (including the goaltender)... whereas it was mostly just the goaltender mailed it in yesterday. I was really just addressing the last two games.

I agree that the Howard situation is an undesirable one to be in. I don't know about sending him to Grand Rapids... I guess it would make more sense if either of the GR goaltenders had any decent NHL playing time under their belts. I also am not sure how Howard being sent down would be received in the locker room.

They should definitely get out from under that contract whenever they get an opportunity.... I just can't really see that opportunity. The contract may just be a mistake that the organization is going to have to eat, at least to a certain extent.

....yet another one. How many is it now? 4? 5? Too many "loyalty" mistakes.

Well to be fair, Howard's contract isn't a loyalty thing. He signed his big contract years ago after a great season, and at the time he was THE goalie of the future in Detroit. They spent alot of time developing him and didn't want to lose him. But his play lately coupled with Mrazek's emergence has made him expendable. I'm sure Holland knows he has to go, and won't just keep him around for nothing.
