Thanks for helping me. First time at the Joe.

Hello Everyone,

A few weeks ago, I posted a new topic about going to the Joe and asking you what seats were the best seats to go for. And a few of you answered me which was really appreciated. And you were right, there is no bad seat at the Joe. So, thank you for the people that answered my questions. I did have a great time at the game. I mean it was a 6-5 Redwings game. The only thing that was missing in the game was a fight! I really liked the arena and how it seems like the crowd is on top of the players, you don't get that in many arenas for any professional sports game. It was just a bummer that my friend and his girlfriend couldn't come because she couldn't come in because her purse was too big. I've never seen or heard that was a NHL rule of coming into games? The purse wasn't that big either.

But here are some of my pictures from pre game:) Enjoy. Thank you again and good luck the rest of the way!

Great pics man! Can't wait until I go to The Joe on March 12th vs. the Rangers.

I always notice Zetterberg always has to stand behind Datsyuk when he's in the faceoff circle during warm ups. Must be a superstition? I have a couple pictures of them, one taken in Detroit another one in Buffalo.

Yeah they always do stick handles in the same exact spot- been that way for years now. They also do a random passing drill sometimes along the blue line. I think it's superstition/tradition.

Did she try going to another spot to go in? I've been there with people who had huge purses and they didn't say squat. Sounds like you got someone who was powerhungry

She didn't. I didn't know there were other spots. I honestly have no heard of that rule before in a NHL Arena. So, I was surprised when my friend texted me that.

Thanks! I love taking pictures for pre game. I couldn't take my long lens so I took my short lens. I always risk about trying to bring by big lens in and the person tried to say you have to take it back to your house. I'm like uh no, nice try. haha.

Hey Sharkie! Glad you had a great time. I'd have lost the purse somehow if it was me  .

It was super fun! Just never heard that rule before. -_-

It's been the rule for 2 seasons now. It's posted on their website. They even handed out bags at the home opener the last 2 years because of it. They really should post it right outside the arena somewhere though. They were pretty lax about it last year, but I saw several women this year get sent back to their car.

Glad you had a good time!

Although it was unfortunate that your friends couldn't get in because of her purse, they should have a baggage check or something imo. perhaps, you should give us pointers on what to do, places to visit, etc if it's their first time to the D. I know I'd appreciate that ;)

I didn't know that at all! I should have checked a while ago. Do you know why they have those rules?

I agree on the baggage check. Just doesn't make sense. I was just over the college town kinda. I was in Greektown ( lots of good places to eat there, there is this pizza place that is really good and lots of good bars in midtown also) There is this greekplace that is really good also. And Kony's, I guess thats one of Detroit's famous food? Correct me if I'm wrong Detroit residents.

And you're welcome for beating the Panthers. Sorry, we couldn't beat them in regulation;)
