GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 Smith played that 2 on 1 as bad as anyone could have. At first, I thought it was a forward, because it looked like he desperately skated to the man with the puck hoping to make something happen. Then I realized it was Smith. Then I wasn't surprised. Certainly not how you see most defensemen playing it.
Aethernum 276 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 And just like that, Howard's great game will be forgotten. Blashill and Holland aren't forgetting that performance. The fans may be fickle, but the people paid to know what's going on are going to keep perspective. Howard showed tonight that he still has the stuff to be a top tier goalie in the NHL. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this
brett 1,029 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 So sick and tired of the way this team plays, stop playing glendening and helm so much and start playing players that can actually score. So frustrating every time glendenibg line is on he's in his own end hate to say it but helm glendenning line was our 2nd best line tonight tatar larkin nyquist s*** the bed whatever the other was line was terrible too

DickieDunn 2,571 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 Do they not teach you to take away the pass on a 2 on 1? Smith the mental midget blew that one 1 LeftWinger reacted to this

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) Jimmy got second game star (Lundy 1st, of course). Jimmy Howard deserves better than a team full of skilled players who simply refuse to score even one goal for him, from all evidence. He was spectacular tonight - but you cannot win if no one scores a goal. As much as I'd hate to see him go, I hope everyone who wants him gone gets their wish and he gets traded. It could hardly be worse for him elsewhere. Edited February 22, 2016 by puckloo39 4 F.Michael, sjr2012, TheXym and 1 other reacted to this
anthonyn66 89 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 Never, never, never go for the passer.... as soon as Smith skated towards the guy I knew we were toast. They teach this before Atom hockey that's just so embarrassing.

LeftWinger 4,959 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 couldn't watch the whole thing. Jimmy deserved the W, he got us the 1 point for sure....AA is about as if not just as fast as Larkin, those two can fly! Smith sucks...period. He played that 2 on 1 like the worst hockey player ever! Even kids know to NOT play the man with the puck and take away the pass! Leave the shooter to the goalie...Hockey 101. He makes so many boneheaded mistakes...ugh! And like i said, this was Jimmy's win, he earned it and deserved it! f*** Smith! 1 DatsyukianDekes reacted to this

CaliforniaWingsFan 464 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 Feel so bad for Howard after that one. This team is tough to watch. We struggle to score goals in every single game. Blashill just stubbornly keeps things roughly the same. Does anyone have any idea why Richards is on the PP? Or is our lineup that shallow that he is our best option? The fans may be fickle, but the people paid to know what's going on are going to keep perspective. Howard showed tonight that he still has the stuff to be a top tier goalie in the NHL. I hope you're right, but more likely than not, Howard didn't win, so he's going back to the bench for the next couple weeks until the next back to back when the Wings hang him out to dry. LeftWinger 4,959 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) I give Jimmy his props tonight, but he was let down by no offense and Smith making a Mite play....every defender is taught to take the pass away! UGH!!!! ARGH!!! ******* TPA won to get to 70 points and we are at 69 in 4th place! Still in a Wild Card, but so close to not being there at all! Holland needs to make a deal or the playoffs are history! Smith is back on my trade list! Get rid of him! Edited February 22, 2016 by LeftWinger

Nyquistfan14 489 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 true but we NEED scoring we have been having this problem all year we need this Oh I agree that we do. I think AA should be getting more minutes and the glendening line less. Those guys always play in there own zone. true but we NEED scoring we have been having this problem all year we need this Oh I agree that we do. GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 Smitty this season is last seasons' KFQ. More like KFC. Feel bad for Jimmy. Why? He's rich and probably gets to bang hot chicks. Feel bad for us having to watch this team on some nights.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 Feel bad for Jimmy. Me, too. I can't wait for the articles tomorrow where they trot out the excuses, and we should have played better. Yes. Everyone except Jimmy Howard, who was stellar, even stopped a penalty shot. But not good enough for his team mates to score a goal for him. The refs literally tried to hand this game to the Wings. Nada. Shame on them. 1 NerveDamage reacted to this
