LeftWinger 4,953 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) Oh well ... at this rate, a pt a game, we'll end up with around 91 pts ... good for 9th spot. But we'll have Helm and Ericsson and Smith and Franzen will make a come back attempt! We'll have $10M in goalies too! And KFQ! We'll keep Kindl and lose XO, Jensen and Sproul to waivers...good times ahead! Edited February 22, 2016 by LeftWinger

Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 The more worrying aspect to me is the decline in playing mins of our $6m D man. Is he carrying a knock or is Blash losing trust in him?

Just my opinion, as a fellow goaltender, don't mean to demean anyone who thinks otherwise. I agree the end result was unfortunate, but honestly I didn't see much that would make me say that was an elite starting goalie performance. Saying it his best performance of the season doesn't mean much, but I'd like to look through his starts before I said something definitive on the issue. Anyway have a good night and we need to get them next game! 1 sjr2012 reacted to this

I guess all I was saying was he was extremely sound fundamentally and made a few very good saves but certainly did not do anything that would Make me think he has progressed as a goalie. Ps did you play ice or roller goalie?

Jacksoni 418 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 I'm quite content getting the single point. This game was lost if it weren't to Howard who played great. If he keeps it up we are back at 1A 1B on the goalie position which would be great going into the playoffs - if we make it. Besides, it should raise his trade value considerably. joesuffP 1,746 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 You couldn't ask for better goaltending like what could you expect Howard to do? He stopped a 2-0 late in the third. Lundquist didn't see nearly as many quality chances and when he did the post bailed him out. That's about as great of goaltending as you can expect minus a few stick handling errors 2 krsmith17 and TheXym reacted to this
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 While I believe Howard is still a quality netminder I feel his inconsistency this season has made him nearly impossible to move unless he's part of a package (like adding Nyquist and/or Tatar). I still think Holland will keep Howard for the remainder of the season...Maybe at the draft a move is made? Holland confirmed he's not moving Howard this season. kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) Kyle Quincey's quote when talking about Howard after yesterdays game. "I told him through the 11 years of on an off (as a teammate) that might have been the best game I've ever seen him play," Kyle Quincey said. "I'm happy that he had such a great game and hopefully he can keep going with that. If he does that, we're in great shape." http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2016/02/red_wings_hoping_one_great_out.html Edited February 22, 2016 by kickazz 3 TheXym, puckloo39 and krsmith17 reacted to this
