Larkin should study McDavid ability to score.

I don't care if we don't have the next Crosby. We have the next Toews. And as overrated as everyone says he is, he's good enough to win Cups. McDavid is a great player and all, but wishing Larkin was more like him is splitting hairs. They've both got very nice looking careers ahead of them. Who cares if McDavid scores more so long as Larkin wins more?

Right? You think everyone would be drooling over Larkin. Not wishing he was McDavid. Tough crowd!!

Really... It's ridiculous in some ways, kind of like trying to split hairs with The Axe, or however that simile goes.

:)

Until he multiplies loaves and fishes, I think the Jesus comparisons are WAAAAYYYY off.

...but in all seriousness, until he leads the Oil to a cup, he's nothing but another 1st round pick for a floundering franchise.

Or at the very least take them to a deep playoff run.

Something Crosby was able to do (till he initially lost to the Wings)

I think the gap between Crosby and Toews not only as draft picks (#1 vs #3), but also as Rookies was alot smaller than the gap between Mcdavid and Larkin is today. Connor McDavid is an unbelievable talent, dominating most shifts he is in on the ice, playing for a horrific team - Dylan Larkin is currently being outplayed by (his 3rd Line, Left Wing, Recent GR call up) Anthansiou. Moreover, just because McDavid is going to score 20-40 points more per season than Larkin likely will, it does not collaterally mean that Larkin is an elite two-way forward which will get his team more wins. It simply means that Connor Mcdavid is an elite offensive player, which also helps a team win games.

The success of the Chicago Blackhawks has more to do with organizational success/stability than it does with Jonathan Toews. Things like: Having the best coach in the league, the best Defence pairing in the league, the best offensive player in the league and the best secondary scoring in the league for almost a decade - certainly helps win championships. Not that this was your main argument, but I would be hard-pressed to take Toews over Patrick Kane right now... I know what your saying, but I also know you wouldn't take Larkin over Mcdavid if you had the chance. No-one would.

The comparison is apt. Crosby scored 102 points as a rookie. Toews scored 54 as a rookie. Neither were stalwart defenders.

Not too different than McDavid and Larkin's scoring rate and defensive ability this season.

And no, I wouldn't take Larkin over Mcdavid. But that wasn't an option. We have Larkin and I'm extremely happy with him. I'm not pining for Mcdavid one iota.
