I'll say it again....what exactly has Holland done since he has been limited in what he can spend? Aka...Salary Cap era? The guy gets a pass because he brought in Shannahan, Hull, Chelios etc. This is the last offseason I'm giving Holland. If he can't get us some offense I'm done with him.

2006/07 conference finals. 2007/08 Stanley cup. 2008/09 Stanley cup finals.

Guess what? Trade deadline is past. Holland can't and won't be making any moves until summer, if at all. So why don't we talk about what the issues are and how Blashill can address them with what he has. This is our team, like it or not. Watch or don't. Cheer or don't. Vent afterwards, but we certainly don't need another Holland-bashing thread.

I love how quickly so many people have turned against Mrazek. He has not played good lately but he has still won more than not. He responds well to being pulled. I think Blash should give him another game off and then go back to Petr. Petr is our guy. Howard is gone in the offseason there is no going around that. Mrazek will be fine. Every elite goalie goes through short funks. Even King Henrik and Price. The difference is Howard goes through 3 month funks. So to just call to switch back to Howard is ridiculous. Give Petr a game off and then go back to him and he will respond.

The bigger isssue here is our powerplay. We need to fire our PP/ offense coach because this is the worst year I have ever seen our offense and powerplay. It is ridiculous.

Of course captain serious with the dagger. Wings simply aren't a match for that Hawks machine right right now, hard to admit but it simply is the truth.

at least the goaltending battle is settled for the next little while Howard deserves a chance if he doesn't play well go with whoever has played better. but right now there isn't a clear cut number one

I wouldn't be opposed to missing the playoffs because the team might finally get a top 10 pick although it would require a serious tank job for the last games.

And they've made deals to keep competitive and what have we really done? I know there's not a lot out there but somehow Chicago has found a way. Kenny just doesn't want to give up anything and what he wants to give up isn't going to get us anything. I'm tired of the rentals. Richards already won a cup, not much motivation there.

They have the best coach/GM this game has ever seen in Scotty Bowman the guy is just a magician. All Stan has to do is ask his dad for an advice and get the $ from Wirtz...not that hard to sell UFAs on an annual contender loaded with guys like Toews, Keith, Seabrook and Kane...

The west is far superior to the east again this year, Tampa or Washington would have to play out of their minds in order to have a chance against the Hawks, Kings or Ducks

Lol. You talk about Chicago's success. My point is they were terrible for so long before that. It's like people forget that and everyone acts like the team needs to win a cup every other year or else were useless. What we do need to do however is either make some big trades to become a contender again or do an actual rebuild. I'll agree with that. I just hate the Chicago has won three cups argument.

agreed, but what Chicago has done or is in the middle of doing is very impressive. I hate it, but that's the truth.

They've made deals to stay competitive because the core of their championship team is intact. Trading a few picks or prospects to win now is the right thing to do for them right now. Doing that really isn't an option for us. We're planning on those prospects to step up soon and take over eventually. Trading young stars for people that can perform now isn't really going to be helpful to the overall goal. Guys like Richards and Green are good enough to keep us qualifying for the playoffs, while being good in-locker room mentors.

Doesn't get much more infuriating than that. Wings can't pull off even a simple play on the PP, or just manage to keep their shots below 10 feet in the air. Refs were abysmal as well. As much as it annoys me that the Wings can't capitalize on the chances they generate, it makes it ten times worse when the Refs are what hand the momentum back over.

Yes it is. But we did it too. I just don't like the comparison to a team who tanked for so long to become good. We did it in the 80's though.

Well that was brutal. I started watching part way through the 1st and we looked horrid at times. Then in the 2nd it looked like we had hope, then like the hawks do ( and we used to) a few minutes later we're chasing 2, and we all know it is very sad when a team gets a 2 goal lead on us and we know we're f&^ked because we cant score 2 more, for some G D reason...

Looks like we are another one and done team ... easy pickings for whoever gets us in round 1. How long do we have to suffer like this before we have a team that can go deep into the playoffs?

Maybe as long as we have a playoff streak going on? Wish I could ask Ken Holland how long he will be content with being a playoff bubble team. Our defense has been noticeably mediocre since Lidstrom retired. I'm really trying to be objective but our D has some serious shortcomings. I didn't think we would be this bad on offense. Negative goal differential.

The teams below us are winning we have a 3 game cushion for the last wild card spot.

It's getting too close for comfort now, need a big win Tuesday and then it's a 3 game homestand in 4 days that could define our season once and for all. A mini 4 game winning streak would do nicely.

Well the good thing is for the first time since forever he at least mentioned rebuilding on MLive. Personally I don't care about the streak it'si mpressive, huge and a tremendous accomplishment but I'd easily give 10 years of it if it meant another cup for Z, Pasha and Kronner they've given so much to this team and would have deserved it in my mind.

As far as the offense goes I don't know why people are shocked by that? It's clear Z and Pasha can't carry the team on their backs anymore and expecting a 19 old rookie to keep up his tremendous pace over a 82 game grind is just not realistic.

The good thing is, when you are playing against teams like the Hawks the shortcomings are getting exposed and you can make some adjustments in the off-season. I'm not even dreaming about Stamkos coming here because why would he? The guy either goes home or he signs with a contender. A 26 old superstar in his prime whom more than 50 % of the league will want and make awesome sale pitches.

it's scary that i have compared the rest of the season with philly's. they are our only worry right now. they have a tough stretch soon too.
