Dang guess I will go back to work.....thought would see some pride

Stick around! I have to believe they are absolutely ashamed of that period, and will bounce back. Impossible for me to believe otherwise, actually. LGRW!!

The problem is the forwards are too weak, so we lose so many battles along the board, when we win them we get it back to the D and they can score with a point shot to save their lives. This team needs to get bigger and stronger, and the defense needs a complete overhaul

On average our forwards are bigger and taller than the Flyers. I think the bigger issue is our guys are simply unwilling to play as heavy as them.

Missing playoffs would be disastrous. We wouldn't pick high enough to improve the team, and would miss out on playoff experience for the kids. They have to make playoffs or it's a totally wasted year.

Because those extra 5-6 games would make such a difference in the young guys games? Those games sure havnt helped Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan, and Glendening. Better to miss. Force Kenny to shake things up and have the kids play probably playoff rounds in GR instead of 4 maybe 5 games max against the Caps.

What a ******* disgrace! Just going on record that I told you this was going to happen when Holland sat on his hands at the deadline. His time here has become stale and needs to be fired.

The whole defense needs an enima. I am very disappointed how DD is playing, but can't give up on him yet. Can't trade Green or Kronwall with their full NTC. Everyone else, goodbye. Yes, even Marchenko. Nyquist or Tatar needs to be traded, Abby is already a wasteam of money, and we have 7 more years of him. Hank is a shadow and is showing no leadership whatsoever. Pav is about 68% he cannot continue to be the only vet trying.

Lol, KFQ was ******* destroyed on that 1st goal, what a ******* joke.

Exactly. On top of this, missing the playoffs makes fans think that management would really change things up. With Holland, it just won't happen. If we miss the playoffs, nothing will change. However, at least now we know that Larkin, AA and Mantha are in the plans going forward. I'd expect Ouellet and maybe Russo/Sproul to join them next year. (in the NHL I mean)

5-6 games is better than zero. It doesn't make logical sense to say it's better to not have a good pick or playoff experience. That doesn't do anything to change the team. Holland already knows we need a major overhaul.

Even us out of market guys with Gamecenter can't get FSD for this one. Only giving me the NBC feed

I am gamecenter too... and haven't seen an FSD game since January... NHL Network and NBC hijacked most of the games so far in 2016

They wouldn't have 0. The guys would get possibly two months more of hockey in Gr. That better than a 4 game beat down in the NHL

Ya I'm talking Moreso on the puck, guys like Tatar, Nyquist, who are supposed to be go to guys get pushed around all the time, and from my point of view it's gotten to the point where there not even looking to make a play they just throw pucks away. You can even see when watching when w cycle pucks 90 percent of the time it's going to the opposition and they break out

There is a great article on slapshot, about the pros and cons of the streak. Trying to find the link right now. To sum it up even they are seeing some pros which haven't been discussed yet:

Missing the playoffs would allow the team to finally embrace a rebuild, take of some pressure of Holland and the players. The expectations will always be high in Detroit and for Redwings fans but this is also a hockeymarket, hockeymarkets do have smart fans. I think almost everyone would understand the situation, if the frontoffice is honest about it and not pull any crap like "we like our team, kicking tires...once you are in the playoffs everything can happen..." Look at how excited people are to see the young players.

Sure it's far from over if they lose this game but the holes are obvious and no they can't be fixed internally nor via free agency (because nobody of that magnitude will sign here anyways)..people might think the differense between a 11 and 17 first round pick is marginal...just to put that into perspective we could be talking about a guy like Chychrun versus someone way worse here. Not the worst way to start a rebuild.
