chaps80 1,591 Report post Posted April 3, 2016 Sucks for Tampa. Seems to be a few star players in the league going out with injury right at the wrong time.

RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) Wishing him the best. Bummer. I know he's 100% focused on overcoming this but how will this affect his free agency? Edited April 3, 2016 by RedWingsRox
Barrie 900 Report post Posted April 3, 2016 All the best to Stamkos. I'll be a jerk and be the first to say it, makes taking 3rd place in the Division even more important. Detroit or Boston can play Tampa in the 1st round when their best player is out. 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted April 3, 2016 at first I was hoping for this to be a late April fools joke but sadly it's not. I don't care what this means in terms of hockey the only thing that p. is him getting healthy, everything else is secondary. Guy is a joy to watch and has an unparalleled work ethic all the best Stammer. 1 kliq reacted to this
xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted April 4, 2016 This is a tough bullet for the TB and specifically Yzerman. Tough for the team to not have their best player going into the playoffs. Tough for Yzerman because he had the opportunity to trade him and passed, hoping that Stamkos' talent would be able to get them back into the Finals and possibly win a Cup. Now they face the real possibility doing nothing in the playoffs and losing him for nothing. With all the Datsyuk talk about him retiring, it almost feels like the stars are aligning for him to come to Detroit. Healthwise, I hope everything is alright and gets better soon and this doesn't become a lingering problem. Pascal Dupuis was forced to retire from blood clots and Chris Bosh has problems with blood clots.
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted April 4, 2016 I really don't see him coming to Detroit. Don't think Holland can pull it off, don't think Stamkos would pick us.
canadian wings fan 305 Report post Posted April 4, 2016 So if we finish 3rd in the division and play Tampa 1st round this would be huge for us
GMRwings1983 8,788 Report post Posted April 4, 2016 So if we finish 3rd in the division and play Tampa 1st round this would be huge for us Unless we make that midget forward of theirs look like the 2nd coming of Rocket Richard again. 1 wingedominance13 reacted to this
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted April 4, 2016 Now reading from Yahoo NHL that Stammer has to have a rib removed for the surgery ... oh my, that sounds very serious. Really hoping that he can recover from this.
NerveDamage 4,176 Report post Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) Drouin has a lower-body injury and won't be called to fill Stamkos' spot. http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/drouin-misses-action-with-lower-body-injury-but-dont-rule-out-call-up-from-ahl/ Edited April 4, 2016 by NerveDamage

Jacksoni 418 Report post Posted April 5, 2016 (edited) Rib link please? That sounds closer to the three month end of the spectrum to me.. I found this yahoo article about it. It's appereantly a smaller bone close to the collar bone. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/steven-stamkos-will-likely-have-rib-removed-in-blood-clot-surgery-174301764.html Edited April 5, 2016 by Jacksoni
