Playoff Lines + Mantha Back to GR

Here's what I think. Blashill screwed up bug tiem taking him out of the line up and now he hasn't played in 10 days. He's had almost 3 weeks worst of NHL action but hasn't been playing. They will send him down to play a few games and he will be back up. I have no doubt about it. He's too good and too productive not to play. If you read Hollands comments he sounds angry that Mantha didn't play for that period of time and the results were poor. I think they do recognize they have to push the youth.

Larkin - Datsyuk - Mantha

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Abdelkader

Tatar - Athanasiou - Jurco

Helm - Sheahan - Richards / Glendening

DeKeyser - Green

Smith - Quincey

Kronwall - Marchenko / Ericsson

Howard / Mrazek

Can't have your best faceoff man not playing center. And I keep Richards in over Jurco during the playoffs.

I don't think pairing Datsyuk with a guy in the playoffs that he's hardly played with before is a good idea.

This organization is so stupid sometimes. 29 other teams wanted no part of Joakim Andersson two months ago and the Red Wings are going to dress him in the playoffs. How many PK bodies does a team need? You already have Glendening, Helm, Sheahan, Abby. Plus AA and Larkin or hell, even Pav and Z if Blash didn't run them into the ground already.

You aren't winning the Stanley Cup and your future looks even bleaker with Datsyuk gone. What better time than now to give your young guys valuable playoff experience? What's the worse thing that could happen -- the Wings lose in the first round like every other year anyways?

25 years, though! Holland will cling to that pointless streak until someone finally steps in and holds him accountable for seven years and counting of mediocrity.

This is the real story.

this sounds legitimate enough....hope you're right.

also....play balls to the wall just for Pav. don't let this turn in to a lidstrom-like final playoff series. pav has gotta get past round 1 at least.

I'm far from Richards' biggest critic, and I actually think he has been pretty good for us this season. But I'm of the mindset, that we should be playing this years' playoffs to prepare our kids for the future. There's no way Richards is with this team next season, at least there's no way he should be... And let's face it, short of a miracle, this team is not winning the Cup this season. I'd rather put together a lineup that will somewhat resemble what we are going to ice next year, get the kids some all important playoff experience, rely heavily on the youth and allow them to soak up as much as they can from one of the most naturally skilled, all around forwards the NHL has maybe ever seen...

With the news about Pavel, this is the first thing I thought about. It has Ken Holland written all over it. The triumphant return of Brad Richards: second-line center/fourth-line right winger.

For the record, I think he's played well down the stretch, too.

Ugh....you're right....Holland will strike out on Stamkos and Yandle (Suter and Parise part duex) and then rush to give Richards and KFQ contracts with raises and NTC's as a panic move...its all so clear!

I still don't know what games people are watching when they complain about "KFQ"...

Do you guys understand playoff hockey? Quincey is our only Defenceman I'm glad to have when the game gets physical. Have you guys not watched the past 10 days of "playoff" hockey? He's been our best Defenceman...

Well, we need a top D man...I guess if Holland trades Smith then that would open up two spots, one that can be filled by KFQ. But he is already overpaid, does he take a paycut? He is not worth $5M+ a year, I don't care how he played the last 10 days.

We need a Yandle type player, DD is getting at least KFQ money, Green is at $6M, The Swedish Meatballs are at $9M combined. You just cannot give KFQ a raise or even keep him the same and expect to have money to upgrade.

Here's how it works:

Kyle Quincey's agent says - if you are paying Ericsson $4.5 Million per year, my client is worth at least $5 Million. We refuse. He signs with another team, and our Defence is much worse.

I get it. My point is you can't have all your D making that much money. Unless Holland deals Ericsson there isn't room for a raise for KFQ...unless Holland doesn't upgrade his D at all.

Swedish Meatballs - $9M

DD - $4.5M (?)

Green - $6M

Q - $5M?

Smith - $2.75

Marchy - $1.5M(? re-signed)

that's $28M in 7 D BEFORE you try to upgrade...Unless you trim the fat, you cannot give Q a raise AND sign a #1 guy. We all agree E is overpaid, but so will Q at any kind of raise or to stay the same. UNfortunately if he wants $5M, he has to go.

You sign Yandle, trade Smith, let Q walk and bring up XO.

You're probably right - but our D gets worse when that happens.

It can't get much worse. Youth movement needs to happen

Can't get much worse than it is now , ouellet isn't spectacular but he's safe and can move the puck , think he'll help the team .... I personally believe one of Tatar/nyquist will be dealt to land a defensemen which should help us better

Personally not willing to handcuff ourselves with Quincey at 5 million for 4-5 years , sooner or later we have to play some of our prospects , it's very unfortunate that it always happens when we're forced to play them rather than giving them chances

Dumb dumb dumb!!! Why are they so stupid not to realize they better get the next generation ready. Only organization in the league that acts like this.

Ahh I'd say we've been pretty good the past 25 years using our "over ripen" method...

Only organization in the league that can say they made the playoffs every one of those years.

That being said - I don't like the lines either.
