ECQF Game 2 Post-GDT: at Tampa Bay 5, Red Wings 2

I like this lineup and thought process a lot. I'd love to see Danny D. - Smith as the top pair, reduce the minutes for Kronwall and play him with Green so he can focus more on a shutdown role.

Ya I could be down with that. Give kronwall-green easy offensive zone starts cause that's where they will thrive

Headline: "Justin Abdelkader: Detroit Red Wings Player Attacks Tampa Bay Lightning's Mike Blunden in Line Brawl"

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/red-wings-abdelkader-cross-line-attack-blunden/

I was glad to see Abby kinda lose it. About time - Larkin and Richards were both targeted, Datsyuk lost a tooth three feet from an official (shrug...) Should Abby face supplemental discipline? Hell, no. It's hockey, not a prom. The Blots players piled on him, and Abby fought back.

Love how the Bolts are lily-white and oh-so-innocent. No wonder Stevie Y won't show his face.

These 3rd period collapses should really not surprise anyone with how Blashill allocates the ice time. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are getting burned out. The kids need more ice time.

Yeah its bad and no wonder. AA played an astonishing 7 minutes last night. 7 minutes??? The guy has speed to burn. let him use it. And Pierre McGuire on the NBC feed was laying it into Blashill last night for not making the match ups harder for Cooper. I don't blame him. I've said this once already, but where is our shutdown line? That's Glendening's role, Helm should be with him, not giving Kucherov and Johnson an inch of free ice. This is the problem, because it's been thought that the likes of Abby and Helm are top 6 players (which they aren't, they're 3rd liners at best) and so our 4th line suffers. This is what made the Wings teams of old so great. The grind line was perfect, and we need that back badly to put a line out there that the other team is constantly trying to get away from.

I also, regrettably, looked at the Wings contracts and team situation for the next few years - in light of how bad Kronner, Ericsson and Z have looked of late, i Just had to, and it made me realise how screwed this team really is. It's easy to sit here and say that KH has overestimated his own players and prospects, bt this is a joke:

Z - 4 more years at $6m - He looks toast right now.

Kronwall - 3 more seasons at a cap hit of $4.75m

Ericsson - 4 MORE YEARS at $4.25m

Howard - 3 more years at $5.3m

So that's 4 guys taking up nearly $20m of our cap hit!!

Z can't retire otherwise we get hit with a massive cap recapture penalty, is anyone going to take Ericsson at that contract?

Ok so no one probably expected Z to decline as fast as he has, but I think most of us could tell at the time that signing him til he's 40 wasn't a good idea. I guess I'm a little worried about the next few seasons...

By the way, when was the last time we saw Kronwall throw a hit?

Heard Smith is in for Marchenko. lol if that's true.

Don't have the slightest clue what Blashill is trying to do with this team

A lot of people think Holland is running this team but I don't buy it. Smith is having his best year, still not great but Holland's best interest would be to have him playing if only to up his value. Blashill said himself it ha nothing to do with Smith's play but the balance of the defense. Which is ridiculous because the wings have won like two of their last 9 or something. Blashill is stubborn and ineffective, terrible combination for a head coach

4th goal was because of LG "injury" when he went straight on the bench without clearing puck from defensive zone. Bykov 2.0 was exposed and beaten by Kucherov.

Helm was on the ice against Kucherov (1st game) and finished -2 and was 2 feet from him.

Saying that Abby should not be on top 2 lines is nonsense since he's the ONLY PLAYER WILLING TO USE HIS BODY AND IS EFFECTIVE ON FORECHECK. Problem is that we have no one else to play his role on this team.

We are getting physically beaten and abused by Tampon Bay's players which is another nonsense. Which brings me to the conclusion that Kenny will be looking to add Shyla Stylez this off-season so we can complete this roster and get deeply f***ed every game... for some reasons KH likes that

The lineup will change.. We get last change at home.

I agree with whatever announcer last night that said something like: you're not out of a series until you lose a game at home.

Next game is a must win. Get a checking line going, shut down their only line, and for the love of the hockey gods; get your heads out of your asses and cover people in front of our own net.

C'mon, why all the negativity? Sure we have no goaltending we can count on to steal a game, and sure the defense is porous and make the same mistakes again and again and yes the young forwards we've counted on to become stars have gone into hiding and the front office just loves kids regardless but other than that things are great!

Richards and Larkin are really playing well!

15-41-43 to shutdown to triplets line. 65 on the ice at all times

Not a bad idea at all. Except we'll be defending all the time and zero possession.

If you want good possession along with shutdown then I'd go with Helm - Sheahan - someone else. Along with DK

Blashill was supposed to be better because he coached the kids, but he is coaching a bunch of old broke down or s***ty players and playing them more.

Jakub Kindl is a better player than Ericsson. Even though I am not their biggest fan, but I venture to wonder if we'd be doing any better with Smith and Kindl in the lineup over Ericsson and Kronwall.

I cannot believe he didn't change the lineup or lines... I will not be watching (again) the same trash if no changes are made.

Glenner is the key. He drives Johnson nuts. If the rumor of Smith for Marchenko is true, that's stupid. Ericsson should clearly be sitting

This. We're not a great team as is, but we're doing ourselves a disservice by not even icing the best team possible. Get Anderson out and mantha in. Let AA pk.

Mantha-datsyuk-Tatar

Nyquist- sheahan- Larkin

Zetterberg-Richards-AA

Abby-glenny-helm

That datsyuk line has played together and I loved the way they played never understood why it was broken up

Second line has speed on the wings with the size in the middle of sheahan

Third line has Z playing wing in a little reduced minutes with Richards who's had lots of jump and AA who can fly. Veteran presence will help AA and he'll help the vets with energy. AA and Richards have shown great chemistry

4th line this is your grind line and they should play all damn night against Johnson. Grind on those guys and make them feel it every damn shift, you shut that line down we win

100% agree! I would only tweak one dude...

mantha dats tats

nyquist AA larkin

zett's richards sheahan

abby glenny helm

....Let this kid (AA) fly with goose & larkin.
