In the 2015 playoffs, didn't Mrazek had 2 shutout performances vs Tampa bouncing back from being pulled the previous game? that might have helped build the hype

That's incorrect. Howard allowed 7 goals in the first 2 games.

That's right! 6 goals!! Such a huge difference man. It's like Howard is Manny Legace and Mrazek is Dominic Hasek.

yeah, I was checking the stats of the series and he had a 2.11 gaa and a .925 back in that series. But just like kickazz said it all changed after his bday. and then he tried to come back even more aggressive but and the D wasn't there to back him up. I just hope that whomever starts next game gets more support from the guys in front of him.

People have doubted Howard's ability to win in the playoffs for a reason. He's struggled with much better teams in front of him than he has now. There's no reason to expect him to change now so why lean on him without giving Mrazek a try?

Howard let in 3 in game 1 and 4 in Game 2.

And yeah, I guess you can look at it that way. Mrazek let in 2 in Game 1 and 4 in Game 2. Guess we'll see what Howard can do if he plays tomorrow.

I feel as though Howard has declined quite a bit since his rookie year. He went from being a Calder runner up who played 60+ games a year to an inconsistent goalie being overshadowed by some kid with a Petr Griffin helmet when he entered the league.

Howard of 3 years ago vs. Howard of now. He's now 1-8 in his last 9 playoff games. I suppose Petr must be 3-4 in his last 7 playoff games

Yeah I think I remember hearing that they only got shut out twice during the season and Petr shut them out twice in the series.

It was also Mrazek that shut them out for both of those regular season games tas well if i remember correctly.

He's been declining for awhile. Mrazek isn't the first to challenge him for the starting job.

There is absolutely no reason to keep playing the veterans on this team. They will not be here in 2 years. Play Petr, play Smith, play AA, Larkin, hell call up Nosek if you want a guy in a PK role. I'm tired of seeing the slow old pace we play with. It's embarrassing.

I'm at the point now where if both Dats, and Hank were to hang them up after this season - then so be it...Relying upon those 2 to carry this team only allows Tatar/Nyquist/Sheahan/etc more excuses as to why they're not playing up to their ability.

This is huge problem. At least if Datsyuk 'leaves' and doesn't retire we can trade him to Arizona so they can reach the floor. Aside from that we're going to have problems with Z, Kronwall too if he doesn't improve from this season.

As for the Mrazek vs Howard stuff. My true belief is that Mrazek is better and has way more potential than Howard. But the main reason I want to see Mrazek start game 3 is because I know and we all know that Petr has the ability tp steal a game/playoff series. Big games this kid comes to play. We've seen that quite a few times now.
