Two summers can turn this team back into a contender. Will be growing pains this coming season with no Datsyuk, but things will be fine.

This would mean:

- getting Chychrun

- Trouba

- Stamkos

I think me winning the lottery has a much higher chance than that. Losing Pasha means losing an elite 2 way player so it won't just hurt the TOP 6 position it will also hurt an already has defense.

Larkin and AA will also keep getting better. The sky isn't falling.

Starting next year every team will be aware of him and probably focus about shutting him instead of Z down. Of course he has all the tools to deal with that but it's also possible that Larkin might have trouble adjusting to playing against the top pairings, top lines.

Double A hasn't played enough games.

The sky may not be falling but failing to pull of huge draft moves and signings will paint the clouds extremely grey. And no this won't be fixed in 2 summers because next years UFA class is a joke

Nobody is saying the transition will happen over night. Hank is nit a player other teams will decide to no longer worry about, despite what many folks here think.

Amen brudder, not surprised another Newf would point it out! Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco was much more effective than Nyquist-Sheahan-Tatar ever was. Gotta have a different element on the line, two little guys on the 3rd line can't get it done. Truth be told, I'm not gung ho about size at any cost, but if we could add a defenceman by trading Nyquist+ in a package and then add a Troy Brouwer type I'm not sure anyone would be complaining about it.

Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco has been only marginally more effective, and that only because the line with Nyquist struggled a little this year.

People have faulty memories and think that line with Jurco was a lot better than it really was.

The fact is this:

- The Wings need one NOW and

- they need one for the future plus

- a top 6 center NOW

this can't be fixed in one off-season which is freaking scary.

Trouba = both of these things. He's 22. Plus he's good size, a Michigan boy, and right handed in addition to his good play and high ceiling. He's a no brainer trade target imo

Yes and he would absolutely a dream come true. Winnipeg would be incredible stupid to let him go but hey it would be a huge win for us.

Danny D. - Trouba for the next 10 years? Boy sign me up for that plus both are Michigan boys :)

Trouba has been discussed extensively on at least two threads over this season. BrSmith, err sorry Krsmith17 and a couple others think he'd be a great fit. I still agree, as I did a few months ago.

Would give up quite a bit to land him. Larkin, Mrazek and DeKeyser are untouchable. Rest of the team is fair game.

The Peg might HAVE to let him go, however. They are extremely deep on defense, and next summer when the expansion draft occurs they can only protect a few of them. They have their other dmen locked up, and this summer is their chance to get something in return for Trouba, instead of possibly losing him next summer for nothing.

Also, if the Wings can get their defense in order by trading for a guy like Trouba at the draft, the team might start to become a more attractive option when it comes to certain high end forwards.

There's zero % chance trouba will ever be made available for an expansion draft ... They'd rather put Myers and enstrom before putting trouba up

Regardless, they're likely to trade someone this summer so they can get picks/prospects in return that they don't have to protect.

If I'm a GM of a team that won't be a cup contender next year, I'm deciding now who to protect in the expansion draft and trading anyone outside of that of any value on draft day to stock the farm and land more picks. I would definitely not leave good players exposed and to lose for nothing.

Agreed. I read today that the NHL and NHLPA agreed on an expansion draft format and what to do about NTC/NMC but they didn't state what the agreement was..

But I remember something about the nhlpa wanting one or both of the clauses protected and in which case the jets may have too many to protect Trouba or something along those lines

Yeah a looming expansion draft should do wonders for trades and speculation. I'm pretty excited to see how free agency/the draft unfolds across the league this year and next

Oh my f***. Does this mean We're forced into protecting Ericsson? :(

I guess it depends on what the agreement was. And it might depend on if it's a modified NTC/when it expires.

Hopefully we'll know more about the expansion draft soon

All I can say if his contract forces Holland to protect him, he has to buy him out. Ideally he'd move him this summer. But god damn.

I agree with your point on Michigan born players but I felt the need to point it out due to management. They seem to like having them.. Could be a coincidence. But I agree, it shouldn't make a difference in why we go after them.

They have a nmc. Trouba does not.

Enstrom and byfuglien ... Jets can save 3 dmen ... Is there really anyone else but trouba who will be the 3rd dman?

No way he's at risk of being exposed ... They'll put Myers at risk or try to trade him , same with josh morrisey , although I'm not sure how the 2 yr pro detail will work for expansion

Myers has a Modified-NTC/NMC starting next year. Not sure exactly how a clause like that would work. It can't be a full NMC, or the modified NTC is redundant. Maybe they'd have to protect him or maybe not. The other factor in trade speculation is that Trouba is a pending RFA, and reportedly looking for a big deal. That may signify that he doesn't really want to be in WPG, and/or it could mean the Jets won't want him at the price he's looking for. In short, there's reason to speculate that he could be available.

Though if they did move him, I would assume they would want a good replacement for him, possibly a top prospect they wouldn't have to protect or a high pick, plus extra. I personally don't think he'd be worth it, but I can understand the people who do.

This is my official offseason wish list. None of it will happen, but a boy can dream.

1. Datyuk's contract+Pulkkinen to whomever for the cap relief.

2. Let Richards, Quincey, Miller, and Andersson walk.

3. Draft best available offensive defenseman.

4. Sign Alexander Radulov 3 years, 4.5 million.

5. Sign Kyle Okposo, 7 years, 5.5 million

6. Trade Gustav Nyquist and some comgination of Jurco, Ouellet, and Sproul for Cam Fowler.

7, Re-sign Darren Helm, 7 years, 3.5 million.

8. Promote Mantha and Callahan and Tangredi

Radulov-Larkin-Abby

Tatar-AA-Okposo

Z-Sheahan-Mantha

Helm-Glendening-Callahan

Tangredi

Fowler-Dekeyser

Kronwall-Green

Smith-Marchenko

Ericsson

*Mic Drop*
