Vanek and Brown are likely being bought out.. We wouldn't have to pay them their current salaries. But regardless, i don't want either of them for any contract.

Was just about to post the same thing amato. Any player that is bought out can be had for cheap. In saying that, neither Brown or Vanek interest me...

Also, I am one of the biggest proponents to trade for / sign Trouba but an offer sheet is definitely not the way to do it. He could be had for a reasonable price, Holland just needs to pony up some assets and get it done...

Or frank, if your intent by saying "offer sheet trouba with a massive signing bonus then extend him" was meant to mean a huge one year contract then extension, I disagree with that.

Anything above 9.5 mill-ish (I forget the exact number) would compensate the jets with 4 first round picks. I like trouba as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't ever trade 4 first round picks for him

Better options could come about. Also theirs rumours of Tyson Barrie possibly being traded. Young dman that produces and has been scratched on the avalanche who have a terrible blueline

No to Vanek, Brown and any of those guys. Vanek has 1! advantage he can score dirty goals the problem is he doesn't work for it and is easy to box out of the crease

Brown looks totally out of shape and doesn't hit as hard as he used to so no thanks. Also Vanek has 2 years and 13 million left no thanks.

Offer sheet trouba with a massive signing bonus and then extend him for 8x8..doubt Winnipeg would match.

Just heard Pierre Maguire on the radio and he said if Frans nielson doesn't go back to the islanders he expects him to be picked up by the red wings and said he's a good player and wouldn't cost a crazy sum to sign him

He's also 32 yrs old and we have a ton of kids coming , do we need to have this guy locked up for 4-5 yrs till he's 36-37

Darren Dreger and Bob Mackenzie both reported Ken Holland is working really hard to make moves right now and is planning a big offseason.

If only we knew what deals were close or fell through over the years. Would be pretty interesting

Strong feeling that Jurco or Pulkinnen will be moved along with Datsyuk's contract. Sometimes I think it's good to just get some guys out of the franchise and out of mind. Maybe they turn things around and become solid players but I don't see it happening here. Time to move on

We're a slick puck moving dman away from being able to play a different style of game. Lose Quincey, buyout Ericsson, give Smith a larger role and possibly add a good offensive defensemen and this is a different style of team

This! This team needs to play a fast paced quick transition style in order to play to its strengths. Similar to the way the pens play. We have the forwards to play a fast paced transition game

I'd take Nielsen. Contrary to what people say we still need vets, just vets that can play or bring a certain dynamic. Our vets are currently just washed up.

The Bickell / Teravainen trade has already been discussed in it's own thread but there's no need to start a new thread for every offseason trade or acquisition...

Arizona acquired negotiating rights to Alex Goligoski from Dallas for a 2016 5th round draft pick.

Why is it that Holland NEVER makes deals like this? Goligoski is a much better defenseman than Quincey so there's probably not much of a market there, but maybe even a conditional 7th... Or what about if we don't bring Helm back (I still hope we do), we should definitely be able to get a 4th or 5th out of a team like Winnipeg for his rights... Why didn't we ever trade Filppula or Hudler's rights when we let them walk?

I love Holland but why is it that Nill can pull off trades like this but for whatever reason Holland is incapable?...

Arizona really wanted Goligoski and the Wings don't need another middle pairing defensemen. I'd rather upgrade the scoring than add another average defensemen. If we go for a dman it should be a guy to play with DD on the top pair

I think krsmith meant why doesn't holland make trades the other way (as if we were Dallas).. Maybe because no one wants our players badly enough? I don't get it either

Ah yes I see. I think this just shows how badly Arizona wants Gologoski... It doesn't happen that often around the league
