I love how now that Stamkos is gone people are sinking to the likes of washed up players... Only to ***** about it once we get them.

$6-7 million for Backes is too much. Would rather pay Okposo 7 million and upgrade Larkin to his center.

What if we were to sign both Backes and Nielsen? Long-term, probably not smart investments. But in the short term, that puts a couple of very capable veteran centermen above Larkin and Athanasiou on the depth chart.

I don't want Larkin being forced into the 1C role before he's ready, and, at the risk of sounding like Ken Holland, I'm not confident that he's ready.

Looch isn't washed up but overall I agree with you. Trust me I'd love Backes, Okposo as one of the finishing pieces longterm but the Wings aren't there yet and giving either one more than 6 years scares me.

BoS wouldn't pay 7 million for Backes lol ( I mean he's not Sergei). I'd bring him in a heart beat if it was 2 years for 3 million.

This forum has been very active the last 24 hours, or perhaps more fittingly since Stamkos made it clear that he stays in Tampa Bay. Our hole on center is gaping, which probably makes many in here concerned, including me.

Lots of trade proposals thrown around, hence this post. We have a nice big bag of former russian money to spend on something that doesn't involve giving up prospects. Let's empty that stash, maybe then we can focus on trades.

No to helm....I'd give wiz a shot for depth if we dumped a couple of D in a trade. I sure would love to acquire a #1 center. IMO one of Nyquist /Tatar needs to be traded and one of Pulkkinen /Jurco. On D one of Marchy/Sproul/XO can be dealt along with one of Smith/Ericsson.

Any of those in the name of a better dman and a #1 center. Howie can be dealt in there as well...we have some assets. Like I said, if all is fair, Marchy should get you RNH. Especially after Larson got them Hall...
