Why hasn't Rick Nash come up at all? He's one year removed from a 43 goal season.. And he's only got two years left on his deal. Kenny might even be able to get them to eat some salary, depending on how savvy he can get.

Because he's not any good. NYR fans are eager to see him go, which is never a good sign.

It will be interesting to see what Holland is able to lure to Det. I believe Ladd was a primary target, but he has a ton of options.

I for one would be very happy with a Nielsen signing... Dude is a very good player who plays both PP and the PK and will get you at least 20 goals and 50 pts a year

No trolls, he is not Stephen Weiss lol... He actually has talent and has been really durable lately

I'm fine with Nielsen as a player.. I'm just concerned about what term he might get.

I'm with ya just that is NHL free agency, most deals are longer than most people would like.

It wouldn't be ideal but a 5 yr $25+ million deal is not the end of the world

Yeah I could live with that. My worry is that he knows how badly we need a center and will use it to his advantage.. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't really know what the guy is like. He does sound like a good fit though and signing him may convince okposo to come here as well.

is there any channel on tv or stream online to watch NHL free agency?

I remember in all past years I could watch the NHL network but TV guide isn't showing much.... anyone have any info?

Also what time does it officially start/open? 9:00 am EST?

Nielsen brings nothing to Detroit that they didn't have last season. I'd rather see a kid from GR play than sign him. He was a mediocre player most of his career before having a couple of decent seasons recently. I would bet that he would not score 15 goals here, and yes, I do see him as a Stephen Weiss 2.0. It would be a worthless signing.
Lucic at least would have brought some grit and toughness, but it appears he's out.
Staal would be pointless.
I'd like Backes short term, but don't see that happening.
I have no interest in Andrew Ladd, and I doubt he has any interest in us.
So that leaves Eriksson and Okposo. I'd be happy with either, if the numbers were right.
Would also like to add Matt Martin, but that is low probability.

Why do I feel like Kenny is in a lose lose today once Stamkos re-signed

He signs some people at Market Value and will get bashed... He doesn't sign anyone, which people will say why didn't he improve our team and gets ripped as well ha

okposo over ericksson but not for 8 mill per if its over 4 years

I love the s*** out of Frans Nielsen. He has long been one of my favorite players and a dream acquisition of mine. But...I need to know what we're giving him, contract-wise. Cuz, real talk? Dude's a 31-year-old 2C. We can't go crazy with term. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe five years. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe.
