Debatable. You don't turn 30 and instantly decline, he may just need a new start in a new market. Stranger things have happened. He'd also probably sign for a shorter term whereas Nielsen is going to be signed for at least 5 years around 6 million.... I'd take Staal all day when considering that.

He's been declining for 3 years. And New York Rangers dumped him too after he failed to score a single point in 5 playoff games and was -7

He's 32 this season. 32 year olds don't suddenly start playing like they are 26.

Im still mad that we didnt go after Radulov, How could you not fit him in for 2 years, and still had Nielsen. instead we bring back Helm, for too long and eat up money that could have went on a trial deal for Radulov. All the money we had and ALL the changes we were promised our signings are FRANS FREAKIN NIELSEN, HELM, and an AHL'er

This is why I've been prepared to be disappointed. Again, I don't want to be negative, but I'm trying to be realistic. We are simply not the destination we once were. I don't blame Holland for not getting deals done now; you can't just flip a switch and fix it. I absolutely do blame Holland for all the terrible decisions over the last 5-6 years that lead us to this point however.

at this point, use the dats cap space to rid Howard. Offer him up and take back only a bad contract back, that has a shorter term. Basically trade Howard's 3 years for a player on a s*** contract but only has one year left. To a team in need of a goalie.
