From some of the reports I've read (at work cannot post a link, but I think it was a Malik report) Holland is "Sold" on Sadowy. From what it sounds like is he has a fast track to Detroit. Could this make Mantha expendable? I hope not, but we all know about the log jam, and if Sadowy is rising in the ranks, it could box out another player....yet again, another example of siging useless contracts that take up valuable roster spots. I hope there is a 3 or 4 forward(s) trade in the works coming up for either assets or picks.

Although he is waiver exempt and start in GR, he may get the call up before Mantha...

332 forwards have played at least 1500 minutes 5on5 since 2013-14 season. Ott, Miller and Glendening rank 317th, 328th and 330th respectively in corsi%.

It's scary to think that our 4th line could potentially consist of 3 of the 16 worst corsi% forwards in the entire league. Puck possession black hole at it's finest. But yeah, let's play them 18 minutes a night, while Athanasiou and Mantha are in Grand Rapids and Jurco and whoever else is a healthy scratch...

Zero chance Sadowy plays in Detroit this season, and I'd even doubt the following season. It's not going to be between him and Mantha, it would be between him and Bertuzzi and Bert would get the call before him in my opinion. Sadowy was a great pick up for us, but I don't see him as anything more than a bottom 6 winger at the NHL level. Same goes for Bertuzzi. Mantha will remain in Grand Rapids until a scoring line spot opens up...

I read the same article this morning, and I'm wondering how you came to this conclusion? To me, it comes off as Holland feeling as if he got good value for a third-round pick. They talk about him proving himself in Grand Rapids. Not sure where the fast track idea is coming from?

Exactly what I was going to say. Everything I've read on him has him projected as a two-way forward, or perhaps a complimentary winger (someone to go to the dirty areas of the ice) at best. IIRC, Sadowy styles his game after guys like Ryan Callahan. Doesn't have much to do with Mantha, really.

Edit: Found it. From a WiiM piece awhile back - http://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2016/5/29/11804996/who-the-heck-is-dylan-sadowy

"This kid loves how he plays the game - the gritty, physical, net-front, garbage-goal game. The Woodbridge, Ont. native has no illusions about the game he plays or his role on a team, and that's a very good thing. He's not a kid playing one way but trying to develop into a different style. He's found his niche in the hockey world and only wants to get better at it. Trust me, that's valuable. He also knows his biggest weakness - oft reported as his skating ability, most notably power and acceleration, but didn't seem fazed by addressing it. Really, the only flaw to be found in this interview was when he said he wanted to emulate Ryan Callahan... C'mon kid, no love for Tomas Holmstrom?"

Yeah, that was a nice goal Nerve. I seen all the highlights yesterday on the Red Wings twitter feed. Sadowy and Bertuzzi looked good. Was kind of disappointed not to see a whole lot of Svechnikov though...

I wish they made a short clip with the best of each day at training camp. the disadvantages of not having fb, I guess.
