Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 I'd rather have the Pens win than the Blues. I'm still pulling for San Hosay to win, though. I hate Malkin and Crosby more than the St Louis fans. I can handle a SJ victory, the hatred has lessened since we haven't played them in forever.

We played the Sharks more recently than playing the Penguins. How about a Pittsburgh vs. Nashville final? Can you handle all the yellow?

GMRwings1983 8,788 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) Wow if they lose this series I can't imagine how depressed Ovie will be. Maybe he'll go to Russia to play with Datsyuk and Kovalchuk? He's getting married soon, so he'll be depressed just from that. Edited May 5, 2016 by GMRwings1983

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 Media has really pumped up this series as Crosby vs. Ovechkin, showing all the head to head stats, etc leading up to it and through. That was going to be obvious. But as I've watched the series, on CBC, they've spent a lot of time talking about Ovechkin's legacy and how he really needs to win this series. A loss against a different team wouldn't be as bad, but he can't lose to Pittsburgh....basically talking about if he loses, his legacy isn't going to be good, it's over. A bit of an exaggeration there, but that has been the gist of the discussion. So, I've been listening and thinking to myself...."really", a bit much don't you think? Ovechkin is simply trying to win, he's not going to be caring that much about legacy, etc. However, after having watched and after last night's game, I think he does care about that stuff, you could really see it on his face and in his actions on the ice. Ryan Whitney (former penguin) was on the radio this morning and they asked him, Crosby really hates Ovechkin doesn't he....what does he say in the room, etc....anyway, he said that if Crosby had anything crabby to say, it would be with a few guys over dinner, not in the room in front of the whole team. He said they have respect for each other, but they're definitely not friends. I found that interesting.

Cali-Wing-Nut 102 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 I called this weeks ago. Washington is the SJiS of the East and the better they do in the regular season, the more spectacular the melt down there is. Im still hoping for a Dallas-NYI cup and the thought of a Guppy Pit cup would make Hari Kari look like a better situation.

xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted May 5, 2016 The Pens have been doing this to the Caps since Ovie and Crosby were toddlers. I've seen the Pens come back on the Caps a few times over the years. The Caps owe them one and if there's any year for them to do it, its this one. The Pens were outshot pretty badly in Game 3 and got some great bounces in Game 4. This luck can't last forever. kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 Twister was such a roider back then. Top 5 fighter in those years imo. He got owned a few times tho (like the vid gmr posted)
GMRwings1983 8,788 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 Top 5 fighter in those years imo. He got owned a few times tho (like the vid gmr posted) Leroux's hand was taped. That's why Twist got bloodied. Leroux ducked him after that each time they played. And yes, he was roiding. Not the only enforcer in those days doing it either.
kickazz 5,459 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 (edited) There was one fight I remember that Leroux went turtle mode. It might have been the same season or following season. Edited May 6, 2016 by kickazz

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted May 6, 2016 One really interesting fact if PIT manages to win it all this year, will be similar circumstances as their 2009 win...both years, they replaced their coach mid-season.

Devils did the same in 2000. Must be an NHL thing. They also appear to have replaced their goalie.
