Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Take a guess and state it as fact, giving yourself some wiggle room in case you're wrong. I you guess right, you brah that you "knew it." If you guess wrong, you say that talks broke down, or another team came in with a better offer at the last minute.

He broke the Datsyuk back to Russia story a couple months back. Way before the Albom article. That was a legit scoop.

Absolutely he did.

Ironically in that same segment the other hosts actually called him out on air to whether any of the information he was talking about (not just Datsyuk) had any truth to it whatsoever and whether they were just creating stories during a slow time. Because that's what Friedman does.

Something eventually sticks.

I think the Avs being "front runners" at one point might be true. Varlamov himself stated that Radulov has a good shot of coming to the Avs. And those two are good friends. So hockey analysts or not, I take the word of teammates/players as more direct source.

I'm not 100% sure about the Wings being the front runners though. I mean unless Datsyuk or Holland himself came out and said they have a good shot of getting Radulov or something.

Update on Radulov -

The Detroit Red Wings are interested in signing Russian star Alexander Radulov, but only for one year. They believe signing him to a one-year deal, likely in the $4 million to $5 million range, would limit their risk, a source said. Radulov, who turns 30 on July 5, is believed to be seeking a two-year deal, which the Red Wings are hesitant to give.

That's good that we're only in for a 1 year deal. I've been checking out videos of him and he really wasn't so good on his last return to Nashville - I feel like he has a high likelihood of disappointing.

The speculation that Avs are a front runner is also based on the fact that Radulov played for the team that Roy coached in the QMHL. If he liked playing for Roy that could play a factor, but those 2 strong personalities could also dislike each other so who knows...

He does have a slight personal connections to the WIngs since he's been playing for Fedorov's CSKA. Then, of course, he knows Datsyuk. He could have heard good things about the orgnization, but you never know how much that sways a player...

1 year deal is no risk at all. If it doesn't work out then who cares and if he's great for us then resign him. I can't see Holland handing out lengthy term to anybody but Stamkos. So either we win the lottery, make a nice safe deal or potentially have a much worse season than last year

Lucic and Backes are going to be given bad contracts. No way I want any part of those.

Both of themy will provide physicality and some scoring... what can Radulov provide??? We don't have Stevie, Shanny, Chelios... in locker room anymore. I don't want a Radulov near Larkin

Does Radulov have some sort of magical powers to affect Larkin enough to overpower Zetterberg, Blashill, Kronwall's influence?

It's like the Wings have had a good tradition of players for a few decades now and RADULOV of all people is going to come in and destroy all of that in a month or something.

Come on- the organization would never let it get to that.

We've brought in Sean Avery, Todd Bertuzzi, Jordin Tootoo for pete's sake!

Brenden Shanahan was labeled as one of the worst locker room cancers when he played for the Blues. And Bowman brought him in regardless. Look at how things turned out for him and the Wings. Even Dominic Hasek was known to cause locker room issues in his previous teams.

Radulov won't be anything out of the ordinary. This is exactly what the Red Wings do. We bring in controversial players and try to make good use of them.

You think that Z, Blash and Kronwall have some kind of influence???

A skilled winger that can put up points is exactly what we need but on a short deal because the future is what we're focusing on. It's better to have the kids get better through having a competent team that can compete

Skilled winger in KHL!!! He didn't proved anything in NHL yet!!! Then KH should go after Linus et Lepisto too I guess.

"But the Red Wings have concerns about whether Radulov would have a negative influence in the dressing room, especially with younger players."
