Majority of the people in Michigan think Little Caesar pizza is terrible. They also think for $5 dollars sometimes it's worth it. When I need some cheap pizza on the go I stop by Little Caesars. When I need quality pizza I can name 25 other places in Michigan. And that doesn't even include Jets, Pizza Hut, Dominoes.

Part of the reason people are "upset" with the name is just that ^. Little Caesar's is terrible Pizza. It's low quality and crap grade. If they named it the Pizza Hut Arena it would probably be better received.

Just listing some reasons why people have issue with the name. Illitch named it after his pizza business, which I get. But most people also think his pizza tastes bad and shouldn't be named for an original 6 legendary team arena.

The Red Wings are LEGEND-

wait for it.

DARY.

Joe Louis (with his 66 wins and 52 by Knockout) was LEGEND

wait for it.

DARY.

Little Caesar's is not legendary.

Wings fans are spoiled. They want cool stuff.

- Think about it this way. For years people in Michigan have made fun of Little Caesar's pizza. Just so happens that Pizza place is about to be named after their sports team arena. PAYBACK!

Bottom line Wings fans are spoiled and think they are entitled. Sorry but they aren't and that petition is a joke will not change a thing. I'd be more concerned with the product on the ice rather than where that product is being played or the name of the arena it's played in.

Prolly not because those names aren't nearly as tacky. Ford is a great car company, quite possibly as quintessentially American as the sport of football itself. Comerica isn't as good, but it has america in the name so its ok.

Little Caesars is gross. Can anyone on here actually remember the last time they at pizza from there? Lets remember also, this isn't just a name, you're promoting a product. And that product is as healthy as mcdonalds and coke. Not something I want my hockey team associated with. Unhealthy food like that is part of the down fall of this country.

Have you been to a Wings game lately? Little Ceasers is all over the place. From people coming through the stands during commercials and throwing pizza into the stands, from signs, marketing etc. Being associated with LC is nothing new.

Actually my only time to a game at the Joe was 2009 against the Caps and Jason Williams had the gwg and Ovi broke his stick on the goal at the end of the game. I have been to wings games all over the place though. Unfortunately my job doesn't take me to michigan too often. Ive been to the Honda Center, Pepsi Center, Pred stadium (don't know the name) Thrashers when they were in atlanta, Amalie Arena and Hurricanes stadium. I cant really recall the LC stuff since I was just in awe of being at THE JOE watching the Wings.

Wait till people are like "I was so happy to be at the Caes watching the Wings." That will easily morph into the Sleeze instead of the Caes.

Ok, that makes sense then. Ya, LC is all over the place at Joe.

The 20-year naming rights agreement averaging more than $6.25 million per year paves the way for Little Caesars Arena branding on the roof of the arena, on the exterior, at entrances and at center ice, among other opportunities.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I haven't seen anyone mention that the Hockeytown center ice logo is to be scrapped. We get a Little Caesars logo there too it seems. I guess we aren't Hockeytown anymore either. We are Hot-N-Ready-Town.

Ok just a question but was there this much bitching by Lions and Tigers fans when their stadiums were called Comerica Park and Ford Field?

I remember a similar outcry with Comerica Park about commercialization when they left Tiger's Stadium for the company named building

Henry Ford was an anti-semite that published the infamous book The International Jew: The World's Foremost Problem (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_International_Jew) and assisted the nazi war effort. He was quoted as saying " If fans wish to know the trouble with American baseball they have it in three words—too much Jew."

...As you talk about something you don't want your team associated with. Personally, just having a company that makes bad pizza isn't so bad.

Without little Caesars pizza we don't have the best owner in sports. Get over it people, you don't own the team and have no say so just deal with it.

Except for that little fact where we (taxpayers) paid for half the arena. So, we should be entitled.

the overreaction to this is quite hilarious

can't imagine what the reaction would be if an actual fraud company like amway got the naming rights. heck, there should be more hatred towards airline companies and banks. these companies have been ripping people off for years

little ceaser's has been associated with hockey in michigan for decades all the way back to the 70's with the start of the little ceaser's amateur league. Little Cesar's has done more to promote and devleop hockey in this area than any other company

it's a shame people are using something so petty such as their dislike of the pizza as the reason why the arena shouldn't be named after little Ceaser's

We're all overlooking the simple solution: Out-bid them. The place hasn't been finished yet, so if one of the people who are "outraged" by this offered more than the expected price, that person would have the naming rights.

Oh, no one has the money? Neither did Mike and Marian until they started Little Caesar's and earned it.

He's not the best owner in sports. He may have once been, but he doesn't seem to care about the Wings anymore.

Rooney family (Steelers), Kraft (Patriots) probably regarded as the best in sports. Illitch might be the best owner in NHL though but not sure about sports overall. Maybe if the Tigers didn't lose the World Series in 2012 Illitch could have claimed the title.

But I digress.

Anyways, I don't think the name or logo issue will make Illitches any less respected by fans. I don't think anyone in the press or social media has said anything negative about them. Folks just pissed about the name and thats that.

Well fans can be pissed about a decision and still respect the owner right? I don't know much about the Rooney family but I agree with you on Kraft, seems like a great owner who is willing to go the full distance for his players. Sadly I think Mr. I has shifted his focus from the Wings to some of his other teams it may be just a feeling but yeah. Chris to me is still hard to judge he comes away with an extreme business first/fan later approach.

For me it's not just the name "LCA" but the fact that they are going from a deserving one (Joe Louis), to a corporate sponsored one and yes I get it it's about the bottom line and whatever but I don't have to like it. An Original 6 franchise should be proud to show off tradition and shove it upon everyone daring to enter the building so to speak.

Remember how awesome that place looked at first? That whole arena had red lights and the Winged Wheel on top of the roof holly crap I was like "yeah, that's Wingsstyle" but now it will just be another bland arena without a rich history like the JLA. While saying that I'm still very sure the inside will be top notch in all possible ways but all that doesn't create an intimidating atmosphere, noise generated by the fans does.

Yeah who cares about the fans, what do they do for the team. The Red Wings would be way better off without all the fans that spend thousands and thousands of dollars on tickets.

If they came out and said LED lights are a go... the stadium is back to being badass. Otherwise it's just any other arena. I guess I think it's just too plain right now. The LED lights were something to brag about.

Honestly I was fine with JLA and didn't feel like a new arena was necessary. The LED lights is what sold me when they came out with the presentation couple years ago.. I was like DAM!!!!!

I'm more pissed about the giant little ceasars logo that will be on the roof. I get corporate naming, but this thing is just going to be a giant billboard. To come out and say the LED roof was just a placeholder, and was only for renderings is a joke. What else in those renderings will not be built?

I think there should be some sort of middle ground, have pictures of the great players rotating, the Wings logo on top of the roof while the Wings are playing but show the LC logo whenever they aren't.

after watching that presser over and over I'm still pissed by the reaction Wilson gave after being asked about the lights: smug phase it was just a render almost laughed it of...wish the hiring of that moron was just a render.

Also Chris spent most of his time talking about companies, brands and expansion of his dad's business not one word about this awesome franchise. The whole presser felt sooo unwings like, it's sooo scary to think that one day this guy might run the Wings
