NHL Chooses Las Vegas for 17-18 Expansion

This is just so the boys can party on the road in Vegas for a couple years. I am thinking the away team will have a bad record there playing on a hangover. Then they will move somewhere deserving.

What a blunder. Seattle or Portland are open markets. They are so bored there that soccer is huge. Now that's a statement.

You guys do realize there are bars, hookers, and often casinos in other NHL cities, right?

while yes, every town does have its "seedy" side of life. this one offers all those "special" benefits standing on italian travertine right next to the armani $10k suit store, the ferrari dealer, and its proud of it!

there are no shadows in vegas.

Travesty, a sham, and a mockery - a traveshamockery!

A beer ad involving Bob Odenkirk!

This reminds me of a commercial years ago...'Sham-mockery' was the theme, and if I remember correctly it was a NHL Network commercial.

I went and found it for ya..

I actually think it will do pretty well in Vegas. When compared to most of the other tickets in town, an NHL game will be a cheaper option to kill a night. Especially if they end up having a decent team. It's definitely an economic hub, unlike Phoenix, Arizona.

My only true concern is the West having an odd number of teams. That's why I'm hoping there's still a chance for expansion in either Seattle, or Quebec, or another deserving market. I won't be truly pleased till both conferences have an equal number of teams.

People like to spend money in Vegas. The NHL is about to bank on this. Vegas won't fail as far as money is concerned. The only issue is they might not have a legitimate fan base lol. It will likely be random tourists attending a hockey game. But Vegas is always full of tourists so.

I know players can get in trouble anywhere, but come on, Vegas?! Players are going to be in the casinos all night, and/or driving 60 miles north of the city where there's legalized prostitution.

I think football is the only sport that can work in Vegas. It's only 9 home dates to sell tickets to, instead of 41. A lot of the casinos will be giving away free hockey tickets.

They're professional athletes, I doubt it's going to be an issue

I have no doubt it will be an issue for some players, but that's their problem. These guys get into trouble anywhere.

Yeah, the guys who are going to bang hookers, gamble, booze it up, and do drugs in Vegas will do that stuff anywhere.
