What exactly do you know about drafting again?

Not tons, but wouldn't it be common sense to take the best player available regardless of position? Max Jones was still on the board and he takes a guy he probly could have taken in the second round. Fail.

Cholowski was a little off the board in that he was projected to go late 1st or early 2nd, but there's no chance he would have still been available at 46... I didn't love the pick at first either, but the more I read about the kid, the more I like it. In the end I trust the Red Wings scouts much more than I do myself or any other fan, and I too originally wanted Jones with that pick...

I got to be honest, I hate this philosophy. This is the approach the Lions have taken, and it always leads to just awful picks.

If player X is way way way better then player Y, then sure take the best player. Buy if a D-man looks slightly better then a forward, and your team is stacked at D and weak at forward, you take the forward.

Pretty much Edmonton as well, no? Teams who have a style/system and who recruit based on that always tend to do better. So yeah I agree with you
