I was at the game tonight and I thought Jurco looked really good! He had a few chances, I think he even hit a post. He seemed to be involved in the play (especially considering the line he was on.) Very encouraging for his first game back!

Jurco looked Ok to me, not great but did belong. Some things about him stood out from last year which were that he looked considerably thinner and that he played more of a north-south game. His timing looked better as well, he entered the slot at the right times and probably should have a goal because of it. Looking forward to his next game.

I thought he looked like the Good Jurco (i.e. healthy Jurco) that I fondly remember. His two-way game is underrated, he's a good possession player, he likes to use his size, he skates well, and he has a high-end skill set. People forget that he's only 23 (well, soon to be 24), which makes him a whopping one year (or two years, if you like) older than Mantha and Athanasiou.

I was surprised by Blashill's post-game comments about him...

Quote

“Excellent,” coach Jeff Blashill said. “Excellent. I thought he was really, really good. He hasn’t played in forever. Got a couple games in Grand Rapids. He skated well, hit the post his first shift, he had another real good look in the second. I thought he was strong on his skates, he gave that line some real good dynamics.”

[ . . . . ] “He keeps playing like that, he will earn his way to more minutes,” Blashill said of Jurco.

[ . . . . ] “If he plays like he did tonight, he is going to help any line win their shift."

Nice to see him give a kid some straight-up praise.

Thought he looked good. Really happy to see Blashill giving the nod to Jurco with those comments. He looked like he's not entirely up to game speed yet, but that's obviously to be expected. He was always in the right place it seemed, and It looks to me like he thinks the game maybe better than we give him credit for.

I'm surprised he just looked OK to you. Can I ask if you watched in person or on TV? Not to dismiss either, I'm just curious if it didn't come across on TV. I thought he looked great, especially considering the line he was on.

I know that happens with trades but has it been specifically addressed with the expansion draft??

I dont think anyone has come out and said anything specific to what happens if the player is lost in the expansion draft, but from my understanding the way the player leaves the team who signed them is irrelevant. The fact that nobody has addressed this confirms it for me.

I'm only slated to watch 1 game live this season and that was not it. I do agree some things are easier to miss on TV, though some things are also easier to catch as well.

Glad you saw something you liked. As for me I though he looked pretty ok, I need to see a few more games before I write something in stone regarding the enigma Jurco.
