In 5 min of ice time, Crosby has 1 goal, 3 points, +4, 4 shots on goal and 80% on draws.

In terms of US beating Canada, anything is possible, but I don't take much from their loss to the US last week....Price sucked, playing his first game in 9-10 months + until the games are for real, you can't really tell. I do think any team is capable of beating any other team.

Looks like Mrazek might get next start although it certainly wasn't the goalie's fault .. Neuvirth was 46 for 50 SOG.

Total shots were 46, he let 6 in....40 saves. Not a good stat line, .870 save percentage. However, he made a least a few unbelievable saves, score should have been much worse.

I propose a new tournament format.

Team North America

Team Scandinavia

Team Eastern Europe

Defending Stanley Cup champs

The only thing with that is that the defending SC players couldn't play for their region, and that might cripple the other teams, since that team would have a clear advantage, just by the chemistry they've already developed. It would be worth to watch nonetheless

I think I had the right idea ... it was 44 saves, he let 6 Goals in, 50 SOG. At least that is what TSN stated:

Watched Carey Price tending the Canadian goal a little extra. He is not far from his old self, a couple more games and he'll be the wall he used to be. Don't see any other team but Canada be on top with that. The up-coming CAN-USA game will be very worth to watch though.

Well it's just a glorified exhibition game but I'm not surprised. Price is just the best goalie in the world, after 5 - 6 regular season games the guy will be as good as ever, him and Weber will be the reason why the Habs are going to return to the playoffs this year.

For sure Canada is going to win, best player in the world, wheter people like him or not in Crosby, best defense in the world, best goalie and the best coach. The only question left will be how serious are they going to take the tournament once training camp starts. I mean, it would help the new players on each team tremendously if their leaders are there because you can't replace the voice of a guy like Babcock or the influence of captain serious...young players are respecting them much more than assitant coaches or alternate captains.

And yet team USA loses against a gimmick team

Report: Dylan Larkin skated on Team North America's second line, together with Jack Eichel and Johnny "Hockey" Gaudreau. He played on the third line during Sunday's practice game.

I've been writing about Larkin deserving more ice time, and it seems the coaches agree after all. Superb news and acknowledgement of our best talent.

I agree. One thing when watching the NA games is that Mclellan wouldn't give Larkin barely any minutes meanwhile (bias or not) he has been one of NA best forwards. His international resume is pretty good as well, seeing McDavid and Eichel get all these minutes and not get a single point is laughable. I know McDavid is going to be great but Eichel has yet to impress me in the NHL or international.

I wonder how many casual sports fans in Russia have ever heard of Datsyuk? I was there several months ago, and Ovechkin is a celebrity there, despite playing in the NHL.

Well Datsyuk was their captain in 2014 Olympics over Ovechkin was but I guess after failing miserably in the tournament as a host nation they probably moved on to giving Ovechkin the captaincy. "A political decision" probably.

The last time I was in Russia I was talking with some locals and told them I was from Detroit. They all immediately said "Datsyuk". I realize that it's just an anecdote, but I got the impression he's a pretty big star.

Well, then they're probably going to have to change captains again after this tournament.

Sweden beat a pretty good Russian team without Lundquist, Z, Kronwall. Changing of the guard, a bit.

Agreed. I don't see the purpose of taking his captaincy and giving it to Ovie. Their problem isn't leadership at all. They just get outplayed by other teams.

This was a major upset IMO.
