What happened to the official Wings site?

Seriously this site looks like it's the myspace site of a 12 old to quote Sheldon Cooper.

As if the redesign of nhl.com wasn't bad enough now the official site has to follow that mess? I mean I've accepted that the video player became worse with each re-design but now even the normal site is barely readable, as bad as TSN's redesign is nhl.com is much worse. Seriously sooooo much wasted white space, the fonts are way too big and therefore wasting so much useless space.

The old one wasn't great but much better than this bulls***. I've completely stopped going to nhl.com now I can't even find the things I'm looking for at the official Wings site great way to start this f****** season, f*** you nhl.com for ruining yet another site.

Whoever decided having a "responsbile" (i.e. cheap looking, slow and not well designed), site for mobile and desktop deserves to experiencee that crap live way too destroy webdesign, screw this s***.

I'm with Frank and the others, the new site sucks.

I was confused, as I just checked the site for the schedule like a week ago and everything looked the same as always. I searched it yesterday for the schedule, and was like "wtf?"

I couldn't even figure out how to find the simple schedule listing the TV time and stations, the site was such a mess. First, I just got sent to a page with a giant ass calendar. Then I got a page that just had two big boxes side by side all the way down the page, and seemed like it was for smartphones only. Finally on try three I found the actual schedule list. NOW though, instead of being a clean list of every game, separated by months, with a drop down menu to let you pick pre-regular-or post season, all the games are listed back to back in one giant unending list from game one to the last game of the season, with no monthly separation or anything. Not to mention is takes up the whole screen, and looks like a massive step backwards.

I guess its more of the same old BS change for the sake of change, even though the new change doesn't help anything or make it more functional, the opposite in fact....

EDIT: and to add further as to why the new site completely sucks, I looked at the schedule page to see what the score of the game last night was, and...nada, nothing.

The schedule page on the old site let you view everything, game schedule, TV listing schedule, scores from past games with a link to the recap right next to it. The new site? Yeah, not so much.

Ugh...

I guess I didn't actually figure the new site out after all, lol. I had to google in my last post to be able to find the tv schedule, but when you google "red wings tv schedule" and click the first link, it takes you to last years schedule. D'oh. I was all set to watch a game on TV tonight, until I realized that I was looking at last years schedule.

Man, what a disaster that new site is. I still didn't see a way to check the scores through the schedule page, and when you click the "scores" link at the top of the page, it just redirects you to NHL.com and you have to scroll through to try to find the game you wanted to know the score for.

Edit: I got it. To see the scores, you have to go to the calendar schedule page, not the other two schedule pages. Man, talk about making s*** needlessly complicated. Or maybe I just suck at technology. ;p

Can't find anything, thumbnails are way too big and has nobody told the NHL designers that sidescrolling simplyf****** sucks? Seriously how hard is it to present the videos in a column like format and have tabs for different categories (coach, gm, locker room, presser, end of season interviews, training camp and of course GR).

The videos are now an extra patch instead part of the homepage man o man

Also all the nice gradient is now gone :(

NHL sucks (management) in general, if you ask me. As a 'remote' Wings fan here in central Texas, it is pretty much impossible to find decent coverage of any sort. Free streams are an option, but not a good one, in my opinion - risky and buggy.

The NHL has jacked up the rights to the broadcasts so high that the local cable company here will not carry NHL Network... and I learned this week that they are no offering Center Ice. So, this is how the NHL attracts fans? Apparently.

I never look at the NHL site anymore. They screwed up NHL Game Center last year, so I never saw a Detroit broadcast after January 2016. I guess I will be watching whatever games NBC steals from FSD. I cannot get NHL Network, so can't see those either. Are we having fun yet? I get Pee-air and that's about it. Kill me now.

How did the mess up Gamecenter? Its the only thing they are doing right.

Constant blackout restrictions along with jacking up the price. It was at the point where I had to proxy half the games just to use the service I paid for. I cancelled mine as well.

It was fine until around the All Star break -- after that, they blacked out every Wings broadcast for me (except 2 of them) the rest of the season. I They changed the service from Game Center to "NHL.TV" suddenly, and the game was (literally) over for me. The support staff were clueless as to why all the games were blacked out where I live. Dallas Stars, sure... but Detroit? I cancelled the auto renewal, since I cannot see Wings broadcasts and that's why I was paying for it.

I notice the official Red Wings app for my phone has now been completely messed up too.

The old app was fantastic. "Hey Hey Hockeytown" and the JLA horn have now gone. Plus all the in-game info, stats etc., also gone.

The new app now only opens an NHL app which is not available in my territory! Thanks for that. Worse still, I looked at the comments of the apps for a couple of other teams and everyone is upset with the NHL for stealing the old app of their teams too. All specific team apps now only open the NHL app and everyone hates it.

It seems to me that the higher the level of greed the NHL reach, the more they alienate the genuine fans of the sport (and their team).

It's all pretty pathetic.

try to find an older version and install that maybe that works? yeah the nhl and mlb unification addiction is horrible. Wish more people would be like Dolan and create their own portal like blueahirtsunited

They tried to tell me I live to close to Detroit so they blackout "some" games. I told them I don't even live in the same country. They didn't understand when I told them I don't have cable, and game center was the only way I could watch the games and I was paying $150 for like 30 games. They didn't have a response when I asked them why they would let me buy the package if couldn't use it, and I asked them to refund me $75, they refused, so I tried to cancel and they out up a fuss. I told them, either charge $75 for the year, exempt me from blackouts, or cancel it. They told me to try a one month free trial and I said I didn't need to cause o just tried a two year paid trial. I ended up just cancelling and watching games "illegally"

Use a VPN and just fake the location you've paid for the full product so you should get every game.

That's what I was doing. but I shouldn't have to do that to use a service I'm paying for. So until they smarten up I won't pay for it.

Same thing with Netflix for me to get the cool, fresh us movies/series that I really want I have to use my vpn.

I'm still amazed how a billion dollar company can f*** up a service, app like the nhl does. Please do the same thing as the rangers and create something like wingsunited as the real official red wings site because what we have right now is a disgrace.
