Hudson Cafe it its!!

based on the world famous posters Krsmith17 and Echolalia recommendation.

You had me at f**king amazing....LOL

Yeah I quoted myself as its a great start to a review. First game was fantastic especially with faceoff leading to the winning goal happening right in front of us.  Took pictures with center ice behind us until the usher kicked us out. Got pics at the statues until doing a selfie just cause sometimes you gotta, someone ran into me ..phone went flying...hit the cold and very hard floor and broke. So no phone the rest of the weekend. Ended up in casino till too late and lost way too much.

Which brings us to breakfast ....OMG doesn't describe the Hudson Cafe!! Ended up getting there by 10:15ish and the lobby was stacked and it was a 20 min wait.  Debated on staying but my lady said hey the dudes on the forum recommended it. Plus we were starving so we waited it out. The wait was justified monster plate of food and those pancakes seriously 2 as a side? Walked out of there 2 stuffed happy ticks to start our day.

Megathanks to KR and Echolalia for the recommendation. Perhaps we should have a thread with lists of places to go to. So when we out of towners ask questions of places to eat when in town can have a good reference.

We did appetizers at Hockeytown in the afternoon when we first got to Motown not exactly impressed. Did Chelis for dinner once again not impressed at all. But the breakfast at Hudson made up for both of the before mentioned places.

Both are kind of tourist traps. People go for the name not the food.

Usually make my Haj to one Wings game in Detroit every year. But I usually catch a game while I'm in town for work, or if it's during vacation I stay with friends or family.

This year I have a ticket for a January game and the group I'm with wants to spend the night downtown. So former Detroiter asking... where do you out-of-towners usually stay? I've never actually gotten a hotel in downtown Detroit b4. I usually do Airbnb for stuff like this, but I'm thinking maybe I should get a room at Motor City Casino or Greektown Casino??? Anyone have good suggestions?

Last time I was there we stayed at Greektown. It was pretty nice, and they offered shuttles to the game.

2011  I traveled solo to Detroit I stayed at the Greektown Hotel/Casino...They have free parking there and plenty of shuttle buses to/from the game courtesy of the bars/restaurants in that neighborhood (be sure to stop in at Astoria Pastry shop for your sweet tooth).

My last visit a few years ago with the family we stayed way out in Novi (cheaper hotel out there) and we went to MsShanes Pub in Corktown (a few blocks away from Vintage Detroit for hats/jersey attire) for dinner and their shuttle bus...Free parking is across the street from McShanes - it's an empty lot just behind what was the Onassis Coney Island.

Greektown is probably the best location to be in. We'll definitely be out at the bars before and after the game, so that matters a bit.

Curious if Motor City or MGM are a lot nicer though. We will have females with us who appreciate the finer things.

Greektown was very nice back in 2011...The tables (craps in particular) sucked though - too high of a minimum limit ($15 min bet instead of MOST casinos being $5).

I've asked this before but....

Does anyone know of an online store where I can get an authentic or authentic looking knock off customized jersey?  I want one with the same big, slightly italic font our players wear.  Every site I visit seems to have the wrong font on the jerseys.

I get all my Wings jerseys from sportsk. Not sure if they offer quality knock offs though.

IMHO you cannot use "knockoffs" and "quality" in the same sentence, and no they do not offer them...Those knockoffs I've seen look like hell - clearly pos jerseys...Funny though - people wear them at games at the Joe/LCA  and yet they drop $200 or more that night on tickets/food/beverages.

To me - do what ya want, but IMHO just buy the legit merchandise from a reputable seller like SportsK, Vintage Detroit, BenH Sports on Ebay, or Custom Throwbacks.

What's everyone's sweater collection look like?

I feel like mine is semi-odd, though I'm sure some of you R-slurs have much weirder ones.

1st ever jersey: Konstantinov
2nd: Lidstrom
3rd: Larkin
4th: Ty Bertuzzi

Pretty much didn't buy any for a long time when I had #5 (cause how can you beat that?). Then the wings tanked after 2009 and I got excited about early Larkin - and Lids was retired - so I got that one. Now there's a 2uzzi sweater waiting for me under the tree.

Id still love a Konstantinov jersey!  I started off with my first jersey when I was 10, Im from Leaf Nation (less then an hour outside Toronto) and my dad was slightly pissed I jumped ship to the Wings-but he got my Yzerman jersey for christmas none the less.

#1: Yzerman- this man made me a wings fan

#2: Fedorov- these guys were my one two for many many years

#3: Zetterberg- I picked this up after his first playoff appearance.  Clearly this kid had that little something extra.

I still reallllly want a Datsyuk 2014 winter classic jersey, and am thinking of pulling the trigger on a Seider & Ned duo too.  Love these guys

I buy variants pretty regularly. I have around 25 or so Wings jerseys. Most are blanks, but I do have Yzerman, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Howard, Bernier, Larkin, and maybe a Fedorov.

I don't have as much as I'd like at all. A couple blanks, an Yzerman and a Datsyuk.

I need Larkin and Seider next. I also have to get a Seider jersey for the dog.

I have:

Datsyuk from the first WC

Zetterberg from the 2nd WC

2 Larkin, one for me and one for R2

I'm trying to decide between Seider and Raymond next, they both keep going back and forth as my favorite rookie.
