You will be missed in Detroit... by at least one fan... Good luck in New York!

Make that two. I always liked Smith, but this offer is too good to reject, especially if you consider our logjam regarding defense.

Maybe Brendan isn't near as bad as you and others make him out to be...

I think he will be a good fit in New York.

I was never a huge fan, but wouldn't have minded keeping him and dumping Ericsson. Great return though. No brainer. Collect as many picks as possible!

Detroit is now up to 10 picks in the 2017 NHL draft: 1st 2nd 3rd CHI 3rd NYR 3rd TOR 4th 5th 6th 6th FLA 7th

If only this can be like the draft where they got Lidstrom, Fedorov and Konstantinov.

Considering some were saying we'd be lucky to get a 3rd or 4th for Smith...

Holland did a good job on this one.  The Rangers overpaid big time.  They must have their own forum where fans were begging for "any" move to get done.

Shattenkrik had a lot to do with it. After the Caps got him the pressure was on NY and to a degree Pittsburgh to bolster their D as well and that drove the price up. Good for us.

Indeed, definitely looks like prices are inflated at this deadline...even more so than usual.
