Ozzy gives us a Farewell tour of the Joe

So many parts of the Joe that seem so old school ( obviously because they are ). We were in the Olympia Club in the Manhattan room and literally 15 feet from our table the Wings were seperated by a curtain loading up on their post game buffet meal.  On Friday it was super hot ( 21 degrees celsius ) when we went in and they had the door open on street level about 20 feet from the Wings dressing room and a couple guys were kicking a soccer ball around.  I tried to be that guy and poke my head in for a picture but the security guard was aggressive. My point being what kind or arena now a days has an outside door 20 feet from the dressing  room lol.

I know! I saw Draper having dinner at the Olympia before the Maple Leafs game, and saw Houda there after the game. What else did you do in Detroit? where did you stay? how long were you there for?

Got in Thursday. Stayed at the Motor City Casino.  Friday morning we went to Felix Gatt's house. Not sure if you know the story but he was Howe's best friend. He has the most amazing collection of memorabilia that I've ever seen. 500-600 square foot basement packed floor to ceiling with signed pictures, jersey's, skates, gloves etc...you name it he's got it. It was amazing. The most down to earth guy too.  Friday went to the game. Drove back to my buddy's home in Woodstock Ontario . Saturday like any respectable group of middle aged goofballs would do we decided to road trip it up the highway to Buffalo to watch the Leafs - Sabres game. Back to my buddy's house in Woodstock Ontario for the night. Back to the Joe Sunday for the game, another stay at the Motor City Casino on Sunday night and took the long trip home on Monday.  Pushed the limits of what my 38 year old body can handle haha.

I didn't know about Felix Gatt, if only I had known... your whole trip sounds amazing, Congrats!

I make the voyage to Detroit and / or Toronto every year with a few of my buddies to see a Wings Leafs game, sometimes a couple. Unfortunately though, I wasn't able to afford to go this year because I've been forking out crazy cash for my upcoming wedding (next month)... It turns out, those same buddies I make the trip with every year are a couple of the best guys ever (despite being Leaf fans). They woke me up this morning banging on my door at 7am to tell me they have a surprise for me (early bachelor party). They handed me a ticket for the game Saturday night against the Leafs. I thought for sure it was some sort of sick joke, but anyway, packing my bags now to fly to Toronto, staying there tonight and flying to the D tomorrow. Never been so f***ing pumped in my life. Can't believe I'm getting down to the Joe one last time. Hopefully we can pull out the W! LGW!!!

I would give a lot to be there... no chance at all, but I can wish. I really hope someone records it all and puts it on youtube for those of us who cannot be there in person.

Yes, please! if anyone here happens to go, and could periscope it ( www.periscope.tv ) would mean the world for us that are away. And it would be saved for posterity too. So please, be awesome and share. LGRW!!!

I'll be there, but I cant do any of that as being from Canada I have no signal unless I get on their crappy wi-fi. Ill take a crapload of pics though and post.

I think for $20 usd you can get a limitless plan at a Metro pcs. or even at a Family Dollar, smartphone included. I'll chip in $5 who's with me?!?

I was making my weekly trip back home from the Detroit airport this morning, stopping at my normal coffee stop at exit 52 on I-96. I entered the service station a saw 4 people with hockey jerseys on, one lady wearing the winged wheel. They walked out as I walked in, but we left the lot at the same time. I watched them turn on to I-96 Eastbound, no doubt headed to Detroit to take part in the final game at the Joe! I headed west to continue my way home. I can say, I was a little jealous of them! They're going to have an awesome time for sure!

Maybe it was someone on here? Not sure, but they looked excited!
