Targets for the Wings

I don't want the wings to sign anyone honestly. I would be ok with Kulikov and Yakupov short term 2 years max. Maybe get lucky and one of them changes their careers around. As doubtful that maybe.

I hope Holland stays out of the free agent frenzy today, but if he HAS to sign a player, I'd like it to be a young reclamation project, rather than an old, washed up vet. People have already mentioned Yakupov and Grigorenko, but what about Ryan Murphy? He hasn't done much at the NHL level, and was just bought out by the Canes. He's still young and could be a low risk, high reward signing. He may not be any better than anything we currently have, but if that's the case, we can just waive him. I'd offer any of these guys a one year, "show me" contract. Sure as hell beats signing one of the rumored vets to a multi year contract...

I think Kulikov's style would be a very good fit. Also would like to see Kenny pull the trigger on a guy like Trevor Daley. Those 2 would certainly help our D on both ends. And let's be honest, defense is by far our biggest weakness.

I disagree, our biggest weakness is our GM

Ownership is either ignoring or doesn't comprehend what's happening either. Chris needs to stop trying to impress Miss Vaughn and pay attention to the team

I'd be super ok with this, get it done Kenny deal with the cap issues later.

HOLLAND: "No. There's no hockey store."

"But he's from Michigan."

HOLLAND: "Really?"

"Yep. And he's a right-handed shot."

HOLLAND: "Is his name Luke???"

"'Ilya' is Russian for 'Luke.'"

HOLLAND: "OMFG! HOLD ME BACK, SALARY CAP BRO! HOLD ME BACK!!!!!!!!"

Anyone know if we have any interest in bringing back Thomas Vanek? I really haven't heard much about him since free agency began. Even tho he was basically just a powerplay specialist for us, I'd like to have him back at the right price. It's pretty clear that he liked and fit in well with our system. He was putting the puck in the net with much more regularity here, than he did for the Wild or the Panthers.

If his asking price isn't too crazy, I'd really like to see him back in the Winged Wheel on a 1-2 year deal.

Kovy could be the marquee signing for the new arena, just how could Kenny pull that off and ive

heard the door isnt fully closed on a Vanek return.

Kronner on Ltir  @ $4.75m plus trading either n/m @ $4m+ =$8.75m +

Kovy in at $6.5m and Vanek in at $2.25m ?

only thing there is unless the Wings expose some senior guys on waivers then we are stopping the kids from getting on the roster, although the above in theory would make us alot better than last year, as i cant see Nik playing alot this coming year.

Holland has "been in talks" with his agent.

I actually hope we do sign Vanek to another 1 year deal, because I feel if we did Holland would be more likely to make a trade for a d-man.

Elias Pettersson

Offer sheet: 7 years @ $10,276,828 per year

Deal would end when he's 29 years old. Compensation is two 1st round picks, one 2nd, and one 3rd.

If you believe we are rounding a corner this may really be the time to do it. The first round picks are the real loss, but they might not be high firsts anymore, especially if Pettersson is on the team. Vancouver would seriously struggle to match this offersheet and also keep Quinn Hughes.

I'm 100% for this... but I don't see SY bucking the unwritten rule here... I simply don't think he'd think it was honorable.

Too steep. Consider the level of prospects being given up over the next 2 years. You could draft 2 Petterssons with those picks.

We need more than just Pettersson.

Agreed. A Pettersson offersheet doesn't make much sense for this team right now. It's not worth 2-3 1st round picks (1-2 potentially top 5-10 picks, maybe even top 3). I think you can get a Pettersson caliber player in the top 3-5, especially the next two drafts. Wright and Savoie in '22, and Bedard and Fantilli could all be Pettersson level. I'd wait until after this season to explore a potential offersheet.
