Looks like we will have a 4th line of Wilson - Glendening - Frk...

Frk will be a regular scratch before Christmas Halloween... F*** Blashill!

Frk can only be successful with the right linemates.  If he's not going to be playing with a couple skilled players who can get him the puck for his shot then he's useless unless they're going to use him as a PP specialist.  Even then he'd be better off on the 3rd line than with 2 grinders.  But Blashill isn't a terrible coach at all.  Just ask the "troll hunters" around here, they'll tell you that all the criticism is unwarranted and driven by blind hatred.

Yea I really don’t understand how people can defend Blashillanymore. It’s clear as day watching the games that his system and his lines don’t work. It’s clear that the guys getting big minutes show no heart, no work ethic, they’re just plain awful. But will they sit? Nope. Gotta keep reducing the young promising talent’s ice time. It doesn’t help that he has a log jam of way overpaid role players but if he truly has any say he needs to sit some of those guys in the press box and call up the guys that want to be here.

I don't mind sending a message to a young player who's loafing, but when you have Sheahan playing 79 games and getting PP time before he finally scores in the last game of the season, when you have Tatar and Nyquist taking shifts off or not doing the things Blashill criticizes the younger guys for with nothing being said to or about them, and when he keeps rolling Helm and Abdlekader out on scoring and PP lines despite limited production, it's just irritating.  You need to be consistent.

Blashill says he has locked the lines for some time. I really like the second line below which judging by his statement will not be rotated. Got size and speed, should be legit dangerous 5 on 5.

OK. Prepared to eat crow. I didn't like the 'tude, wanted you traded (still do for a good, young dman). I called you a one dimensional 3rd liner. Prove me wrong AA, I dare you. BTW, why is Blashill putting his 2 fastest skaters on the same line? If it works, that's great. But when you have that kind of speed, why not spread it out?

I agree completely. However Blashill logic says that you put similar player styles on the same line. Why? I have no idea. Apparently he sees Zetterberg, Nyquist, Tatar as similar players. Same goes for Larkin, Mantha, Athanasiou, and Nielsen, Helm, Abdelkader... I do like the kid line... a lot, but I'd mish-mash the other three lines. That's just me though...

He's a top 3 prospect with just a few games played this season. I am projecting him to be our top prospect around march unless he gets injured or traded.

I could write a lot. Not needed. Use them eyes. His speed and creativity creates chaos. Just like some dude drafted in the 7th round long ago did.

Athanasiou? I wouldn't consider him a prospect... Top 3 what? Player on the team?

https://www.nhl.com/redwings/news/notes-athanasiou-enjoys-playing-center/c-292768928

"The difference between center and wing for him is he's a guy who skates when he gets the puck," Blashill said. "He doesn't have the same necessary habit to skate without the puck. (Darren) Helmer's really learned as a winger how to skate to open space without the puck. AA kind of waits until he gets the puck. Well, it's kind of hard to get it on the wing as much. You get it way more at center. I just think getting him in the middle of the ice where he can get the puck and attack up the ice at speed probably is using his best attributes."

Everyone knows about Athanasiou's speed, which he feels he can really unleash at center.

"I think you can skate a little more," Athanasiou said. "In the D zone you're a little more active, you can come under the puck. I can carry a lot of speed, come under it and carry it up the ice.

"I'm pretty comfortable there. It's a lot of fun playing center."

Athanasiou said he's also comfortable having Martin Frk on his wing, something that he had back in his days in Grand Rapids.

"I played with Frky before and I think we had some good chem," Athanasiou said. "We know where we are on the ice and dod a good job finding each other. He has a lot of skill to his game, he's very comfortable making some passes out there. He's always looking for me in stride so he's definitely a lot of fun to play with."

Two things:

  1. OMG HYPE!
  2. "Good chem." Not good chemistry. Good chem.

Ericsson?

Seriously though, I hope you're right. Won't believe 'til I see it. Still think he turns out to be a good middle 6 winger. And that's not a bad thing.
