We definitely added to the top end of our draft pool

What do I need to know about this Berggren kid? He's getting awfully high rankings. All I remember is him being compared to Nyquist

I duuno. He can motor I guess? Victor Arvidsson was the comparison I heard made. But yeah, similar to Nyquist. Except they were both 4th rounders so this kid better be better than those guys!!!!!

Which version of Nyquist? 2013-2015 or the last 3 seasons?

I think I would be ok with earlier Nyquist.

Meh. Goalies are tough to project. Just keep drafting them. Sooner or later one or two will have to pan out.

Pronman himself says he is VERY conservative with how he projects goalies.  The guy definitely puts in his research time, imho.

A clarification for what he means by has a chance:

Have a chance: Probably not an impact guy but could play in the league and has the toolkit to have an outside chance to be a real player. Have a chance refers to probability to be a good player, not his probability to play NHL games.

From his explanation article:

I value goalie prospects very conservatively. In the past 10 years or so, I’ve only rated one goalie who I thought would be a top-tier player (Andrei Vasilevskiy) and only a handful who I’d project to be a starting goalie in the NHL.

FWIW, I am really digging the NHL coverage in the Athletic.

The Zetterberg thing is very odd. He may start the season, but if he does miss the start of the season, he is likely out the entire year? Why is the start of the season the marker for whether or not he can play at all?

He has to pass the physical test the players are given to start the season. Supposedly he could not even bend down to tie his skates the 2nd half of the season last year.

I'm assuming he'll fail the test.

But they are projecting  if he can't even train in the 4-5 months he's had off (he's been unable to train much); he'll likely be unable to ever really train at the level he once did again.

Pretty much. After I wrote what I did, I read that Z wont be able to play without his offseason training program. So I guess that is the reason.

On the offensive side of the puck is where I trust all three of these players.

on defense I do not.

I think Zadina's going to be a 200 ft player eventually. Vanek is what he is and I have no hope AA will ever be anything more that a cherry-picker.

Why can he play golf?  You bend down hundreds of times, turn left and right, and reach for things all the time playing golf.  Stupid to even talk about his back at this point.  He just doesn't want to play hockey.  He wants to play golf.

Just stop.
