Steve Yzerman to step down as GM for TBL. Will serve in "Advisory Role".

It's a New York Post article. Does anything more really need to be said?

Yzerman is available this summer, and is the most attractive name out there. He is going to be listed as a candidate for every hockey team in the universe, all the way down to Mites.

The fact that he left The Lightning, to come home to deal with some family issues, just makes these stories all the more plausible.

I think I"ll smile for weeks if Yzerman goes to NY.  The meltdowns around here would be prime viewing.

Yzerman ain't gonna take the Wings job unless it's Devellanos.

Wasn't it for his family back in Michigan the reason why he's leaving TB after this season (I know it's an obvious statement, but I'd be shocked if he took a job elsewhere).

... or ya know, maybe the reason he said in the Lightning press conference... He's stepping down, and moving back to Detroit to be closer to family...

Yzerman is not going to leave a powerhouse team that he built in sunny Florida, to go to a bottom feeder and remain away from his family. It's not going to happen.

Yzerman is moving back to Detroit. Whether or not he becomes the next Red Wings General Manager, or President of Hockey Operations, or some other role, is to be determined. But he is NOT going to take a job with another NHL team...

So, he doesn't want to be a GM because he wants to live in Detroit with his family.

Good on Larry for not naming his sources. Because that would be unprofessional.

4 cups. 25 straight playoff appearances. What the heck has Yzerman done?

If I were Holland, I'd laugh too.

Built a team that just tied the wings win record, won the prez trophy and are stanley cup favs.

What have you done?

Which Holland also did multiple times. Yzermans resume is nowhere near Holland's yet.

So if a burger wins a bunch of trophies as best burger, and then a new younger better looking burger comes out and is a favourite to win burger of the year I shouldn't get fat and eat all the burgers?
